Highlights

Your Skydive Wanaka adventure begins when you arrive at our drop zone, located 10 minutes from Central Wanaka at the Wanaka Airport. All equipment is provided, so just bring a big smile, as well as warm and comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. Once you are at the drop zone you will be greeted by our friendly staff that will help to get you checked in, geared up and ready to meet your tandem master.

When you have met your ‘beautiful stranger’ you will head off to the plane and take a 20-minute scenic flight to altitude. As you fly over the Southern Alps your instructor will point out Mt. Cook, Mt. Aspiring, the Southern Alps, up to 6 lakes and the Clutha River. At altitude the door of the plane will open and this is where the fun begins.

“Freefall feels like flying,” so make sure you keep your eyes open, and capture your thrilling moments whilst reaching speeds of up to 125 miles per hour (200 kilometres per hour). After up to 60-seconds your parachute will open and you will get the chance to take in the views as you gently fly back down to the landing area.

Once on the ground, celebrate your achievement while you await your edited video and photos.

Turned up to a very calm... - Turned up to a very calm environment before a nervy first skydive! Very professional. We decided to go with the full package of handheld footage and an external filmer. Only poor thing on the day was the first guy who started to put my harness on, didn’t have a clue what he was doing. Thankfully two other guys came over and did it properly!

Beyond the bucket list - My skydiving experience on 29/1/2021 was absolutely spectacular and safe! Huge shout out to the team at Wanaka and Queenstown for easing our nerves! The booking team at Queenstown, Tom was fantastic in helping me calm my nerves. Also they made sure safety was paramount to the experience. Huge shout out to my 2 handsome strangers, Mario who I initially tried skydiving with in Queenstown but due to change in weather conditions, it had to be rescheduled to Wanaka. And to Daniel whom I ultimately sky dived with. Do support the team at Skydive. They are really wonderful people! Amazing experience! Definitely do it again!

Amazing experience - Best experience of my life. I would recommend 100% I was really nervous to get motion sickness but Angus made the experience so enjoyable!! I felt safe and comfortable. Thanks to Boris, Rob, Dan, Flo and Angus for making my experience a lot less stressful. The plane ride was beautiful and Angus was showing me the famous mountains of Otago. I can’t wait to jump again! Thanks to the friendly team in Wanaka :)

1st Timer - What was just some talk over some drinks quickly became real the next day when my friend had contacted Dan at Skydive Wanaka. He said you are jumping at 1pm. So the fear of backing out became greater then the jump itself. My wife has no worries with this sort of thing but I was quietly sh#%ting myself. From the moment we arrived at skydive wanaka I was very much impressed by the friendly attitude and professionalism by everyone involved. Dan and Rob were amazing and made us feel like we were jumping with old friends...You guys rock and we will definitely be back! Thank you...

Skydive Wanaka - Amazing Experience but With Some Pain - If you are going to do it, might as well go the highest. I chose the 15,000 feet/60 freefall. Wanaka is supposed to be one of the best areas to sky dive. I had booked for 7:30 am but they emailed me the day before and asked if I could do it at 8 am, no problem. They say to allow for at least 3 hours from start to finish but I think I was done closer to 2-2 ½ hours including on waiting for my video and images which they give you on a thumb drive. You get an oxygen mask for the flight to 15,000 feet. My tandem master was Boris. Everyone I encountered was friendly and professional. It was an amazing/unforgettable experience. I was excited but nervous and it turned out to be everything I had imagined. However, I will say that once the chute was pulled, it really hurt where the straps were on my legs. We swung from side to side and it made it worse. In my video, you can clearly see I’m in pain. I didn’t say anything because what could be done? I just accepted it as part of the experience. When we landed, I was a bit lightheaded when I stood up. I’m not sure if it was from the jump or from the pain. I chose the Ultimate Combo package which gives you video/images from both 1.a handi-cam that your tandem flyer wears and from 2. a camera flyer which is dedicated to you second jumper that takes photos/video . I did not care for any of my handi-cam footage so my advice would be to choose the “camera flyer package.” You've got to have proof and the camera flyer footage was great! My husband was with me but did not skydive. Spectators can watch as you land right from where you take off. I highly recommend the experience and Skydive Wanaka, just be cautioned that you could experience some pain.

Let down - I had been looking forward to this experience for such a long time, but when it happened I was massively disspointed. It seemed to be one mess after another. First I lost a shoe as we were leaving the plane, and almost instantly into the free fall my ears became pressurised which caused extreem pain for the remaining dive. My harness dug into my groin very painfully, my goggles lifted off my eyes so the free fall was a big blur but even more insanly my 'beautiful stranger' took my dive as an opportunity for a joy ride performing acrobatics and stunts all the way down. This made me nauseous and I couldn't even enjoy the scenery. Lastly, we came down so fast AND into electric fence! WTF??

Disappointed - I did 15000ft skydive in wanaka. It was a great experience but at the moment i watched my video, it was so disappointed. My video and photos are like recorded by a kid ! That means I spend $299 to get a non professional video and photos. Please provide a professional and edited video to customer as this might be once in their life time!
