Important history - especially now - Extremely informative history that MUST be shared, especially in a moment like ours, this is extra important to get this history out in the open. Max did a great job and was very passionate about the history he was sharing. His is the time to make this history well known, so we were very happy that it was shared. Please don't stop this tour!

Our history will help us for our future. The Swinson Family. We will send photos later - Very informative, appreciated the rest stops, would love to know more about the Wilmington black community in the late 1800s early 1900s. As a black woman, I never know enough about my people. Thank you very much to the young gentleman who was from Italy. Can’t remember his name, but my family greatly appreciates him.

Take this tour! - Max was great. He promptly met my friend and I at designated place to begin our 1.5 hour walking tour around downtown Wilmington and surrounding blocks. It was such a hot day, but we brought water and found relief under trees on benches as Max talked effortlessly about the 1898 coup. We stood on exact spots where blacks and whites took up sides, bringing to life his unfolding narrative of the tragic events of 1898 and the major players who orchestrated it. Max used the book Wilmington's Lie to share historical pics of names in the event to help bring to life what happened. He knew the history well and relayed it smoothly and clearly as we walked the tour. He was open to our many questions and engaged us the entire time.

Learned a whole lot - I loved this tour. Andrew was an excellent guide who was extremely knowledgeable about not just the coup in Wilmington, but about its history in other parts of the state too. I had not heard of this event until we went on this tour, but I left feeling like I had a detailed understanding of this historical legacy. I would say this is a must-visit tour, especially since it's as far as I can tell the only coup-focused historic location in Wilmington

A must for anyone moderately interested in history - The tour provided a thorough review of the political climate in reconstruction era North Carolina and an explanation of how this coup unfolded at the end of the 19th century. The tour guide was knowledgeable and willing to answer questions during the walk making it a great experience.

Little known historical event - Max was a very good guide, informative and entertaining. Need to supply visitors with head sets so that you can hear the guide no matter how close you are to them.

Do Not Miss This Tour - Enlightening, bring water. I had already read The Wilmington Lie, so I knew the history. To walk the same streets while listening to the history was overwhelming.
