Embark on a peaceful kayak journey from the Marina at James City County, through placid Powhatan Creek and Back River, until you reach Jamestown Island, touted as the cradle of the United States due to it being the location of the first triumphant English colony in America in 1607. Behold breath-taking vistas filled with verdant marsh grasses, majestic bald eagles and magnificent cypress trees, mirroring the scenery observed by the Virginia Company when they initially inhabited this area in 1607. The tour includes two stops behind Jamestown Island for the appreciation and exploration of the diverse wildlife and plant life and discussion of Jamestown Settlement’s history, archaeological findings such as the Fourth Church tower, the only visible 17th-century structure still intact in Jamestown, and the Powhatan Nation that utilized Jamestown Island as hunting grounds prior.
If you want to have this tour for your own personal group, consider buying all 5 tickets.
