Totally Worth It! - Increible! Gracias Willi y Christian por la mejor experiencia! Super recomendable :D PS el mejor ceviche lo encontraran en su lancha ;) A dream come true! The team is professional, safety is a priority always and we were lucky to see more whale sharks than usual plus dolphins, huge rays, and many beautiful birds. Thank you for a safe and fun experience despite COVID-19 and for taking the necessary prevention measures.

Unforgettable Shark Whales and Lagoon tour! - My trip with VIP Holbox Experience to go swim with the shark whales was absolutely wonderful. Willy, and his brother who captains the boat are Holbox natives and know everything about the island, its surroundings and amazing ecosystem. We were greated with a delicious breakfast on the beach at Club Mandarina before hopping on the boat.. ps: everybody wore masks, we were required to wear masks and were always greater with hand sanitizer and a big hidden smile:) We had to ride a long way to reach the spot where the shark whale were as they had moved away from the island. They however made everything possible to make the trip comfortable and check on guests. The swim with those colosal creatures was well worth it! What an experience! We then stopped at a spot to go snorkeling with tons of different fishes to follow and enjoy. There we were served delicious fresh ceviche that they prepared while we were swimming. We finally ended our tour in one of the most beautiful spot I had ever been: Santa Paula will remain on my mind forever! Such a beautiful lagoon, a wonder of nature, a magical place! Thank you VIP Holbox Experience!

Lack of basic amenities, the longest boat ride of my life. Saw a whale shark for 2minutes. - Unfortunately, this tour really disappointed. The good bits: we saw a whale shark! That was amazing! The ceviche was good. The guide was lovely (he didn't speak much English but got by, I think we had been dumped with him accidentally so it wasn't his fault.) The driver was lovely. The bad bits: we literally jumped in the water saw the whale shark for 2 minutes and then had to jump back out. (This is not an exaggeration) We travelled MILES. We were given 0 refreshments until 1pm. Our tour started at 5:45. When we arrived at the port the taxi driver who picked us up, just dropped us there and no one had any idea who we were going with. It felt as though we were being passed to different people and rejected until someone finally took us. It took about 4 hours to get to the whale shark by boat. Everyone else arrived at the same time and every time one person went in with the shark, we then had to queue up with the other boats and wait our turn again. The sheer volume of people seeing this whale shark seems a bit cruel which I don't think we were fully aware of. When everyone had their 2minutes with the whale shark we then sailed from 1pm - 3pm to the island that we would have lunch, this was not helped by the fact another group had to join us because one of the boat engines failed. Our boat was then overcrowded and slow and suffered with engine failure as well due to the weight. I was desperate for the toilet as I hadn't been from 6am. In the end at 2:30 I had to jump off the boat as I could see no end. The lack of preparation for peoples basic needs was incredible - no food, no drinks and no breaks for 9 hours, with the sun beaming down on us. (There was a cover, but not everyone could escape the sun) We also broke down in the middle of the ocean with no one around us, I felt a little unsafe to be honest. I'm glad I saw a whale shark but this tour was expensive, unsafe in parts and could be done so much better. If you have the opportunity to see a whale shark somewhere else (Philippines) do it there instead.

Torture of an animal - Please stay away from this experience. You will not swim with the sharks. You will be allowed 2 minutes to see in the water a tortured animal trapped by 20 small boats that chased him around. The ride to the open waters to see this poor creature was very bad. 2 hours in a small tin boat with 10 other people. The waves and the speed made us sick and also gave us pain on our back and joins although we are in our 30s. We arrived and taken in pairs of 2 in the water to see a very small shark trying to escape the crowds. If you still want to go , ask many questions

Environmentally and animal unfriendly waste of time & money - This tour is absolutely not recommended. It’s not about the boat crew or service, these are nice people, but the tour itself is just insane. 10 people are packed on a small boat and you spend a total of >8h (4h one way) smashing through the ocean until you reach a poor lone whale shark which is surrounded by >30 tourist boats with 10 people each (>300 people) who jump on the poor animal and take pictures. You literally have 20-30 sec to swim next to the whale shark until you are brought back to your boat. What an unnecessary waste of energy (all the gasoline for the boats), time (>8h boat ride for a 30 sec swim), money (150€ per person), and nature (300 tourists molesting one poor animal). And to top it off, around 50% of all people got sea sick when finally getting to the whale shark, ending up puking and having a really bad time on the boat. Everyone, it’s not worth it!

Whale shark abuse in name of tourism - I am appalled at the animal abuse we witnessed today. 40 or more boats each with 8 clients all trying to swim for a brief moment with the only whale shark visible. It was sad and annoying because the poor animal was tagged with a locator and therefore there was no where for him to go. Where ever he moved 40 boats would go behind him. A sad sad experience. This has to be regulated before all whale sharks disappear from the area which for many generations saw them bread.
