Join us in welcoming new members to our history club as we explore the city that Edward Shelby, a relation of the real 19th-century gang from Birmingham, would have known. Be guided by Shelby himself as he invites you to experience the living conditions and daily life of a gang member during that era. Experience what it was like to stroll under the dominion of the nocturnal gangs and venture into parts of the city not typically included in our daytime itinerary. How did these criminal syndicates utilize the waterways? What role did alcohol play in exacerbating gang-related issues and how did the city officials attempt to mitigate it? During this interactive night tour, these questions will be answered as you visit five distinct drinking establishments, ranging from pubs serving traditional ale to gin houses and cocktail lounges. Enjoy light-hearted activities such as bar games and a trivia quiz, all while gaining a deeper understanding of the influence of gangs and alcohol on the city’s history. Our educational evening tour is ideal for personal occasions such as hen and stag parties, birthdays, team engagement events, or simply for making new friends.
