You will do the course work online, once you sign up for the course, we will contact you for some additional information and get you all set up with PADI so you can do the online work. It takes 6-8 hours to complete the online portion.

Fabulous diving experience! - This was my second year with West Bay Divers and I completed the Open Water scuba Course with MEKELA. She was an excellent instructor and I felt safe and confident throughout. After certification, I did 12 more dives with Mekela whom I highly recommend including a night dive and a deep deep. Fun and safe with amazing marine vistas. Barney had things all set up before we arrived and the process couldn’t have been smoother. Very professional! I did experience some sea sickness at first but Mekela always had that in mind and with strategies and the right placement on the boat, it never became an issue.

Best diving experience! West Bay Divers rocks! Joel was an amazing and patient instructor. - My wife and I hadn’t dove in 12 years and we decided to complete a Re-activation course through West Bay Divers while staying at the Kimpton Grand Roatan Resort and Spa. This dive shop delivers an excellent concierge experience. Our master diver and instructor Joel was so patient, professional and fun to work with. (Best laugh ever!) I personally had the most comfortable dives with Joel and I have recreationally dove since 1985. My wife was a bit nervous diving again but Joel put her completely at ease and I watched her confidence grow throughout our dives. This dive shop delivers. From Wayne who patiently answered our questions via email months prior to arriving in Roatan to Barney who was super chill to field our questions locally. We hope to return soon and continue this amazing journey of diving with West Bay Divers!

Amazing Dive shop for a first time family with young teens - West Bay Divers was fantastic to work with from the very beginning. They were so easy to book, quick with follow up and so kind during the whole process. It is evident how professional and safe they are. I wouldn’t dive with anyone else.
We are a family of 4 with two young teens and I was nervous having them dive (we are all brand new). Joel took us out and he was absolutely FANTASTIC. He made sure we were all very comfortable, explained things patiently to me when I had SO MANY questions and made us feel so taken care of.
The dive itself was beautiful with so many INCREDIBLE fish and interesting coral. Joel was very patient with us and made sure we went at our own pace (acclimating). Once we were fully down he continued to check on us and made us feel very comfortable.
We had such a great first experience we did it again two days later! This time Joel educated us on a lot of the fish and coral we would see, which was fascinating. We had another incredible dive. I had a little more trouble with my ears this time, and Joe was so calm and patient and helped me until I was able to pressurize.
We can’t wait to come back to Roatan and dive with West Bay Divers again. They are exceptional. Thank you Joel for an amazing experience!

West Bay all the Way! - We spent 4 days with West Bay Divers in Feb 2026. The first two days my daughter and I completed our open water certification with Nico - we had such a great experience with Nico. He customized the course (we had some leftover confined dive tests) and was very patient with me "getting" some of those skills and took me out early both days to get it completed. Then, by OW dive 4 we felt like proper divers! Best instructor ever. We then dove two more days (4 dives) with Joel and Nico as our guides - wow what great service at this dive shop, now I know what "full serve is". All of the guides we met on the boat were fun and created a great, relaxed and very safe atmosphere. Nico was kind enough to bring his go pro to get some pictures of us. We saw everything from seahorse, eels, baracuda, rays...such a wonderful area to dive.
Thank you all! We do need to return....this experience was life changing and we have a new addiction :)

Such a great dive company!! - Just finished 6 dives with Takeshi and Abner and what an amazing experience! An extremely professional, nice and safety conscious group of people with a very well run organization. As someone in a review said earlier…they handle and take care of everything , leaving you to enjoy your dives with their great oversight. You’ll enjoy your experience with West Bay!! I’ll be back next year 😃

Great experience! - Had an excellent refresher dive with West Bay Divers. I hadn’t been diving in years but Joel did a great job of making me feel comfortable again - cannot recommend him enough! Their equipment and boats are top notch, and the dive sites spectacular. If you’re on the fence, time to get down and book a trip!

Awsome - I recieved my O.W. certification with WBD and had an amazing experience. The staff was verry helpfull. We lucked out and got the most incredible and knowlagable instructor Chiara Girardi. I was certified with my friend and his 12 year old son and she managed to make the skills fun for all of us. After mastering the skills we had a decent amount of time on each dive to explore the crystal clear tropical waters and injoy the beautiful reef and marine life.

An amazing experience with Takeshi! - We had the greatest experience. Takeshi and his team thought of everything, guiding us through four unforgettable dives. We saw amazing marine life and had a fantastic time! Definitely a must in Roatan - and hopefully you land Takeshi as a guide!

Highly Recommend West Bay Divers and Mayghan! - Our experience with West Bay Divers in Roatan over New Year’s was fantastic and I strongly recommend diving with them. Our family of four completed our PADI Open Water certification plus some additional dives with Mayghan Wilson. She was not only extremely professional and knowledgeable she made the whole experience fun for everyone in the family…even the skills day. We cannot wait to go back and dive with her again. Everyone at the dive shop was a pleasure to deal with but if you can dive with Mayghan, I promise it will be awesome!
