• Duration: 2 days for the diving portion
The online segment takes approximately 4-6 hours. Upon course registration, the operator will coordinate with PADI to initiate the online portion of the course.
This certification encompasses five Adventure Dives, including the Deep Adventure Dive, the Underwater Navigator Adventure Dive, Peak Performance Buoyancy, and a choice of two from the following options:

World Class Dive center with Excellent Instructors and Service - - I had an excellent experience with West Bay Divers. I complete the advanced open water course and a several fun dives with them. There staff are outstanding. Abraham - my instructor- always made sure we were well looked after and getting the most our of our dives.
The boats and equipment are in great condition and well maintained. Looking forward to diving with them again!

Fantastic experience diving with West Bay Divers - My best friend and I got our AOW certification with WB Divers in November 2025 and it was an wonderful experience! We have taken many PADI classes and gone diving with many dive shops and this was by far the best experience. First, our instructor Joel was fantastic - he put safety first and made us feel very comfortable, and ALSO was a ton of fun to be with. And he was the clearest instructors I've ever had. Even though I have no interest in diving in Roatan again (too many other places to try) I would travel there, or wherever Joel is teaching, if I decided to get an additional certification. That's how good he is. The crew and staff and shop were also quite impressive - very well organized and very friendly and kind.

Advanced Open Water Roatan - The guides, the dive gear, the boats and the dive sites were amazing.
The guides were incredibly insightful and passionate about the underwater world. The dive sites they took us to were incredible, and they took care to ensure they were fit for the course, but not at the cost of other divers on board.
Special shout out to our guide, Sean. He had a way of making the course work fun and interesting. His knowledge of the sea life we saw was unbelievable and we loved his enthusiasm for diving.

Got Advanced Open Water Diver Certification Here! Best Dive Instructor! Hover Over & Swim Through Coral & Colorful Fish - My husband and 21 year old son just got their Advanced Open Water Diver Certification at West Bay Divers! Diving in Roatan is ideal because it is by far the calmest waters we have ever dove in! It is also filled with a ton of coral to hover over and swim though! Absolutely Beautiful Fish too! Mekela our dive instructor is the BEST…Friendly, Knowledgeable, and pointing out fish to see on every dive! The night dive was mind blowing with octopuses camouflaging, lobsters, and tiny shrimp peering out…etc. A Huge shout out to our photographer Juan Darhanpe…AWESOME, as well as our captains Anthony & Justin, and the Dive Master Takeshi! Thank You for a Phenomenal Dive Trip! We’ll be back!

Absolutely Incredible Dive Experience!
I recently completed my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox certification with West Bay Divers, and I can’t say enough good things—especially about my instructor Joel. He was professional, knowledgeable, patient, and just an all-around awesome guy to learn from.
The entire staff is friendly, experienced, and genuinely fun to be around—they made every dive feel like an adventure with good friends rather than just a class.
The highlight? Two unforgettable night dives that were truly out of this world—an experience I’ll never forget.
Whether you’re brand new or looking to level up your certifications, I recommend West Bay Divers to anyone and everyone. You’ll walk away a better diver with memories that last a lifetime.

Dive instruction that exceeded our expectations - We had an excellent experience diving with West Bay Divers. We took the Advanced Open Water course and also got Nitrox certified. Communication from the staff was quick and clear- we were able to do all the reading and testing online before we arrived in Roatan. Our instructor Joel exceeded our expectations. He explained the dive plan in detail in advance of each dive, what skills would be practiced, our route, what we might see along the way. He is great at finding cool fish and sea life and pointing it out so that everyone has a chance to see it. He is also very patient in explaining dive concepts and he made sure we understood the differences between air and Nitrox diving. Because we were the only two doing the course it was like having a private dive guide for three days. Diving with Joel was really a positive experience and I am so glad we had him as our instructor. We also got some great shots of our wreck dive from Juan Darhanpe the photographer, who did a great job of capturing us and the sea life we saw. From start to finish, our experience with West Bay Divers was exceptional and I would definitely dive with them again next time we are in Roatan.

Favorite dive company ! - Best dive company my family has worked with !! I did my advanced open water and Nitrox courses with Gaby and she was amazing ! The dive sites they took us to were beautiful and the staff made us feel like family. Also got the coolest experience swimming with a whale shark in between our dives on day 1. Would definitely dive with them again if we come back to Roatan ! (Also the banana bread was the best we’ve ever had)

5 Star experience at WB Divers - On our trip to Roatàn, we did a total of 9 dives with West Bay Divers. Each one was great. The gear they provide, as well as the boats they use were in great condition; very well taken care of.
We did our advance open water cert with Arturo. He was patient, knowledgeable and articulate. He clearly communicated what was needed, demonstrated the skills and made sure we were doing them correctly - both topside and underwater.
Barney and Mary in the shop were responsive and provided all information needed quickly and without hassle. The other instructors around the shop (Sean, Gabby, and others) were all friendly and helpful and added to the atmosphere of fun. We had both Alex and Anthony as boat captains, each were stellar. Their driving skills were on point. Juan, the photographer also accompanied us on our wreck dive and snapped some awesome photos a highly recommend booking him to join a dive.
Overall we saw some amazing fish, turtles, rays, and coral. On our night dive we also saw an octopus and bioluminescence. The reef is beautiful, the dive shop was great, and would absolutely recommend WB divers. We will be back.
