West Bay Divers - best concierge dive company in Roatan - We have been diving with West Bay Divers (WBD) for years now- over 6 different trips to Roatan. You will NOT find a better concierge dive company on the island in my opinion! We are a family of discerning and experienced divers who dive all over the world. We look for dive companies that have the flexibility to accommodate small/private groups, experienced and flexible DMs /captains and well-maintained equipment and boats. WBD has it all! My husband and I got our advanced and rescue diver certifications through WBD with Master dive instructor Joel Urbina and our 13 and 11 yo sons have worked with both Joel and Baastian Ross Peers on their open water and advanced open water certifications. As a result - they are some of the most qualified, experienced and respectful young divers most DMs have ever seen. Joel and Bastiaan instilled in our whole family a love of the coral reefs and marine life around Roatan and a deep respect for conservation of this precious place and coral reefs around the world. Accordingly, we have since gotten certifications in PADI Aware, Divers Against Debris and Lionfish Awareness/Eradication. In addition to having some of the most talented DM/DIs on the island, they also have incredibly experienced, safe and fun boat captains - especially Captain Edwin - who recently braved rough surface surge and bad weather to ensure we have some of our most memorable dives - including a 60+minute night dive to experience the unique “String of Pearls”. Cpt Edwin also expertly and safely found us dive sites that had clear visibility and no crowds in the middle of a driving rain and windstorm. We deeply appreciate our WBD family (including Joel, Bastiaan, and Edwin (as well as Owner/ Management Wayne and Mike!) for making our most recent family dive trip to Roatan so special despite terrible weather and conditions! Amazing Dive Shop - Me and my wife started our experience with West Bay Divers before heading to Roatan on vacation by booking our Advanced Open Water and Enriched Air Nitrox courses with them. We initially communicated with Wayne over email who was very responsive and helpful in setting up our PADI study materials, in class reviews, and our certification dives. Upon arriving at the shop our first course was with Mayghan for our Enriched Air Nitrox and she was absolutely lovely. She took the time to review everything with us and was wonderful. When moving on to our Advanced Open Water dives our instructor was Bastiaan who was amazing. Our experience getting our Advanced with Bastiaan was fantastic and it definitely exceeded our expectations as he was patient, kind and always willing to go the extra mile. We didn't just get our Advanced, we actually further developed our skills and are now more confident divers because of his guidance. Basstiann is an unbelievable person and dive master to dive with. Any dive shop who has Bastiaan or Mayghan have gained two assets. We highly recommend West Bay Divers, and if you're thinking of doing courses with them rest assured you are in great hands with Bastiaan and Mayghan. We had such a positive experience with all staff members that we continued to dive with the shop for the remainder of our trip.

West Bay Divers is the BEST - We did our advanced open water certification with Joel, he is an outstanding teacher and takes his time with you to make sure you understand and you are comfortable. We always dive with West Bay Divers when we travel to Roatan for the exceptional service, the best equipment, and for the great experience.

Very Professional and Accommodating - Such a good time. Our instructor Bastiaan was great. He did a very good job explaining every dive in our advanced open water course. Entire staff was very helpful and offered really cool dive experiences and options.

Great Experience - Bastiaan was a great instructor for our Advanced open water Certification!! He also knew where some really cool seahorses lived and took us to a ship wreck! also highly recommend doing a night dive with them its an experience you wont forget!!!! Very good advanced diving program - My wife and I signed up for the advanced open water program. Bastian, our instructor was very professional and guided us to the perfect elective courses. We chose the Nitrox, peak performance buoyancy, and wreck. Such a cool experience. Thank you West Bay Divers and Bastian for the great dives!

The best of the best - We got Advanced Open Water certified with the best of the best, Joel! After getting our OW certification with him two years ago, we knew we would get the most amazing instruction and experience with him again. Joel has a gift of blending serious instruction with pure joy. He focuses on safety and skills, but he also shares his love of this beautiful, magical, and unique place. I cannot thank him enough. West Bay Divers also has a caring, helpful, and fun staff, including Angel who went out of his way to arrange a Mary's Place dive for us, Barney who burned my mask until it was perfect, Alex who is an incredibly skilled and thoughtful captain, and Ceci who led us on a thrilling night dive. Mia guided my family on a fun snorkel (and made sure they saw the Scorpion Fish she spotted) and Peter led my husband on a few extra dives (including West End Wall with the most fish he's ever seen at one time). Trip of a lifetime! - We had an excellent time diving with West Bay Divers. Before coming to the island I did a lot of research on dive shops and West Bay seemed like the best. It turned out to be better than advertised. Our dive group was never more than five and the boat didn't carry more than two groups at a time so we always had plenty of space. All of the equipment was new or like new. The boats looked like the best in West Bay and safety was clearly the top priority. In fact, on one of our dives, we picked up a stranded diver from another operator who took off while he was waiting to get on board after a dive. Safety and quality really matter when taking your family diving. We did 13 dives in six days, all of them with Bastiaan. He did an incredible job with getting our 12 and 14 year old boys as well as my wife and I our advanced open water diver certifications. But no doubt, the best part was the incredible diving. A great wreck dive, coral and rock swim throughs, crystal clear water, canyons, walls ... it was a trip of a lifetime. Favorite Dive Shop and Great Instruction - Our 4th visit to this small and personal dive shop in 8 years. The staff changes from year to year, but the care and small shop feel stays the same. This year we dove 7 days in a row and had the same dive master every time, Bastian. Bastian was fantastic, we did our advanced open water certification, he was and is a great teacher and even suggested classes to take. I learned so much from his instruction and I feel like an advanced diver after the classes. Beyond that, they are committed to small groups and not overcrowded boats or dive sites. I highly recommend this dive shop.

Great Boutique Dive Shop That Prioritizes Safety and Environmental Stewardship - My girlfriend and I loved our time diving with West Bay Divers. My girlfriend did her Open water course with Ceci, and I did my Advanced Open Water and Nitrox course with Mayghan. Both instructors did a great job, and we would highly recommend them to anyone looking to do a certification. It was clear that the Dive Shop prioritizes safety and taking care of the local environment. They also keep the dive groups small and never pair more than 4 people with a dive master. My girlfriend was quite anxious going into the whole adventure, and I appreciated how safe and comfortable they made her feel. After completing our courses, we dove the rest of the week with Mayghan, and I liked being able to do the rest of our diving with someone that was already familiar with us. They were able to structure things so that despite taking different courses we were able to dive from the same boat, so I was grateful for the flexibility. Also, as we prepared for our trip Wayne was very communicative and made planning the whole thing super easy. Other dive shops we looked into would take days to respond, and not answer all of our questions clearly. Also, a shout out to our great boat captain (I think his name was Alex), and the rest of the friendly staff at the Dive shop. I would recommend to any of my friends going to Roatan to dive with West Bay Divers, and if we have the opportunity to go back to Roatan we will definitely be diving with them again.
