The Satilla, with its white sandbars and black water surrounded by majestic towering pine bluffs, is unquestionably one of Georgia’s most attractive rivers. It exudes a laid-back appeal that results in an easygoing canoeing experience. From the oak shadows, barred owls echo their calls while slender cypresses line vigilantly along the banks. This 2-hour journey leads you upstream at a leisurely pace, threading through picturesque sights. We’ll pause at a sandbar about an hour into the journey to unwind. Then, after re-embarking into your kayak, we’ll partake in a quiet downstream drift back to the starting point.
