The Caribbean sun was just beginning to rise as I found myself boarding the “GUS Bus,” a sleek 32’ Intrepid powerboat, at the National Park Dock in St. John. The anticipation of a full day on the water with Sonic Charters was palpable. As a former professional surfer, I’ve spent countless hours riding the waves, but this was a different kind of adventure. After a leisurely exploration, we relaxed on the beach with a cold beer, soaking in the sun and the unique beauty of the place. The return to the marina was swift, and soon we were back on the GUS Bus, heading to Marina Cay for lunch. The food was delightful, and the JavaMur Coffee Infused Rum was a revelation. Gus’s choice of a nearby reef for a drift snorkel was the perfect post-lunch activity, offering a glimpse into the vibrant underwater world.

The famous Soggy Dollar Bar lived up to its reputation, providing the perfect backdrop for relaxation and fun. The atmosphere was infectious, and the rum punches were as refreshing as the gentle Caribbean breeze.

As we headed back towards St. John, the setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink. Gus navigated the return journey with the same skill and ease, ensuring a smooth ride even as we awaited electronic customs clearance. It was a day that encapsulated everything I love about island life: adventure, relaxation, and the endless beauty of the ocean.
