Highlights
  • Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History - Your guide will take you to visit the highlights of the collection, housed in a massive building that covers the area of 18 football fields. Gaze into the world-famous Hope Diamond, whose brilliant blue sparkle, and immodest size at 46 karats, captured the attention of former owner Marie Antoinette. Wander through the displays of gems and minerals, including the Dom Pedro Aquamarine, the world’s largest gem of its type, which glows brilliantly from within. Travel back in time to learn about death rituals while exploring real mummies from Ancient Egypt. Then step out of the past into the wild, exploring the mighty polar bears, elephants, and giraffes that roam across earth’s surface. From the land, jump into the sea at the Ocean Hall, where you’ll discover a live coral reef exhibit as well as a 45-ton whale, Phoenix, which is a replica of a real living what that the museum tracks. By the end, you’ll understand why so many people come to visit the 126.5 million artefacts housed at the National Museum of Natural History.

She was engaging and energetic the entire tour, helped us take many amazing photos and really enriched our Smithsonian experience. Approachable History - Chris was extremely knowledgeable and presented history in a compelling and understandable manner. There was a young child on our tour who he was particularly good with as well as a guest whose first language was not English.

Guided tours are the best - We had been on this tour almost 2 years ago with family members and the tour guide was excellent. So on the way to DC we thought wouldn’t it be great if somehow we have the same tour guide. And as luck would have it we did! Leigh is excellent, she’s very knowledgeable and passionate about the museum. Of course the museum itself is wonderful with so many things to see and she guided us through with her expertise. We were there during a very busy time, a lot of kids on spring break, but it still was fine. We have visited several Smithsonian museums, and the Museum of Natural History is our favorite. We would definitely suggest touring the museum with a guide. They add so much more to your experience with more detail about the exhibits than reading the info posted.

Family Guide for Smithsonian - Stephen provided a lot of knowledge and information that we would not have gotten if we didn’t have a guide.

Too much for what we received - The guide wasn’t well versed about the exhibits. When asked a question he would look at plaque on exhibits or simple say idk The price being paid I would expect someone knowledgeable or who was at least willing to look up the answer
