• Smithsonian Institution Building - Enjoy a narrated drive through the Smithsonian Museums Institution, heading towards the WWII Memorial.
• Washington Monument - NOTE: The G.W. Monument is a (Drive Through) as it is visible from all around the mall, but you can take a close-up picture during your WWII Memorial stop.
• National World War II Memorial - Dedicated in 2004, this large stone plaza designed by architect Friedrich St. Florian features a ring of columns representing U.S. states and territories, joined by a bronze cord symbolizing their united effort. It honors those who fell, recognizing their strength in restoring freedom and ending tyranny worldwide. (15 min.)
• Lincoln Memorial - Dedicated on May 30th, 1922, this neoclassical temple designed by American Beaux-Arts Architect Henry Bacon and interior statue designer Daniel Chester French/Piccirilli Bro. carvers, pays tribute to the 16th president of the United States, Abraham Lincoln.
• Vietnam Veterans Memorial - Honors all U.S. armed forces members who served from 1955 through 1975 in Laos, Cambodia, and Saigon.
• Korean War Veterans Memorial - Located just south of the Reflecting Pool on the National Mall, it depicts a 1950 war scene with 19 stainless steel soldiers walking along the 38th parallel north, the border between North and South Korea.
• Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial - Conveniently located at 1964 Independence Ave SW, this stop offers a perfect view of the Jefferson Monument across the Tidal Basin and a walk to the nearby sprawling FDR memorial. Completed on August 22, 2011, the memorial honors Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy of non-violent philosophy striving for freedom, justice, and equality. As the first African American individual honored on the National Mall, this space invites reflection on his legacy and enjoyment of the Cherry Blossom trees in spring. (15 min.)
• Arlington National Cemetery - Cross the Potomac River via Memorial Bridge to enter the nation’s most significant military burial ground. After a 25-minute walk through the grounds, witness the solemn Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Visit inside Arlington National Cemetery for 1hr. 30 mins.
• U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial - Those who prefer not to walk to The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier can visit the United States Marine Corps War Memorial. You’ll still see Arlington’s shrines while driving through and can step off at the famous bronze sculpture depicting six marines raising the flagpole on Mount Suribachi during the Battle of Iwo Jima on 2/19/1945. While the scene depicts a famous World War II clash, the memorial is dedicated to all Marines who have given their lives in defense of the United States since 1775. (15 min.)
