The sandstone edifice is an extraordinary example of architecture, featuring ornately decorated beams and granite pillars. A unique aspect of this temple is the use of lightweight porous bricks, known as ‘floating bricks’, to minimize the roof’s weight.
• Bhadrakali Temple - The Bhadrakali Temple is among the oldest temples devoted to the mother goddess. In the 14th century, the deity of this temple was adorned with the Kohinoor diamond as its left eye. Established in AD 625, it is beautifully situated on the banks of Bhadrakali Lake. The temple’s structure is supported by square pillars, showcasing a distinctive architectural style. A notable feature of this temple is the sculpture of a fierce lion, the sacred vehicle of the Goddess, positioned facing the sanctum.
• Thousand Pillar Temple - The final stop on the Warangal tour is the Thousand Pillar Temple, a superb example of Kakatiya architecture.
