While the park is renowned for the iconic Queen’s Head, visitors can also explore other fascinating formations such as Sea Candles, Fairy Shoe, Ginger Rocks, and Princess’ Head. As the park is an open and exposed area with minimal shelter, it is essential to be prepared for the weather. In winter, the strong northeast monsoon can be quite cold and brisk. During summer, the sun is intense, so wearing sun-protective clothing or carrying an umbrella and staying hydrated is highly recommended.
- Yangmingshan National Park - On the journey into Yangmingshan National Park, there is a chance to spot Formosan macaques. With an elevation ranging from approximately 700 to 1,000 meters, the park is slightly cooler than the city. The main attractions include Qingtiangang Grassland and Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area.
- Qingtiangang Grassland - Situated atop Yangmingshan National Park, Qingtiangang is an expansive, flat grassland offering breathtaking panoramic views. At an elevation of around 800 meters, the temperature is slightly cooler than the city, making it perfect for a leisurely walk or a picnic.
During the Japanese occupation, this area was developed as a ranch for cattle grazing. Today, visitors can still see wild water buffalo and other wildlife grazing peacefully. Due to its high altitude, the area is often enveloped in clouds and mist, creating a unique and ethereal beauty.
- Xiaoyoukeng Recreation Area - Positioned on the northwestern corner of Mt. Qixing at an elevation of about 805 meters, Xiaoyoukeng is a post-volcanic geological park where active volcanic phenomena can be observed firsthand. As visitors approach, they can see steam vents and detect the distinct scent of sulfur from the volcanic activity. This area primarily serves as a viewing platform, so there is no need to walk far to enjoy the stunning scenery.

Excellent half day tour - I'd highly recommend this tour for those who want to experience some of the interesting geological features and natural beauty of the Greater Taipei area. Hicks was an excellent guide and knew all the best spots. A very enjoyable short tour.

Great tour! - The tour was very flexible, and we were picked up from our hotel by Henry who was friendly and informative. Plenty of time was given at each location to enjoy the view and take photos. we were able to collect many stamps from the visitor center and had a delicious fresh fish meal.

Hail to plan B - Paul was a wonderful guide who was flexible and easy to work with. The rains brought thick fog to Yangmingshan National Park that we needed to have a plan B.
Paul brought us to Jinshan instead which is the first settlement of the Hokkien migrants from Mainland China.
It was a good alternative .
Yehliu Geopark did not disappoint despite the continued drizzle.

perfect day - Vincent is a wonderful tour guide and anyone would be lucky to have his services. Highly recommended, its a private tour with him walking alongside and supporting and sharing/teaching about the area sites. Its not too overwhelming and you still get privacy with ur family but also a fun uncle/friend to banter and chat with. He really matches your energy and I would use his services again back in Taiwan :)

Fun tour to see Yangminshan and Geopark - This was a fun tour and Henry, our guide was wonderful. He was informative on the areas, gave us some tips on other places to go, and how to get to places we wanted to go. The fumaroles and steam was cool to see. The geopark was amazing. December weather can be unpredictable, and it was misty in the pasture walk, so didnt see much.

We had a wonderful time... - We had a wonderful time with Allen! He was very professional, a great driver, and we learned so much from him. When weather prevented us from reaching one of our destinations, we pivoted to a city tour. We highly recommend his service!

Great half day tour! - Our guide Chiao Chiao arrived on time and she was very polite and very informative. The Yehliu Geopark was amazing and we were lucky to see water buffalo in the Qingtiangang Grasslands. I would recommend this tour for anyone looking to fill in half a day while in Taipei!

Great first experience in Taiwan - We had a wonderful time with Nicolas Ying. Nicolas is knowledgeable of the histories of all the places we visited, and went above and beyond to provide us with such a memorable experience. We highly recommend and will book with him again in the future.

Despite the rain - If not for the weather, this would have been a great trip. We could not see anything in Yangmingshan National Park because of the fog but I was already warned by our superb tour guide Paul Yang.
Paul had a plan B though and he brought us to Jinshan instead to experience authentic authentic Taiwanese lifestyle. This is the first settlement by their ancestors who travelled from the Hokkien province of mainland China thereby having almost - 400 years of history .
Yehliu Geopark did not disappoint.

Weather adaptating tour! - Unfortunately didnt get to see all the places in the itinerary due to bad weather. However our tour guide Nicholas was very adaptable changing the itinerary around and made our day worthwhile and enjoyable! He was very knowledgeable and gave lots of good tips and places to visit on our own.
