• Yehliu Geopark - Located on Taiwan’s northern coast, Yehliu is a cape renowned for its Geopark, where sea erosion has crafted unique honeycomb and mushroom rocks, including the famous Queen’s Head and Dragon’s Head. The terrain is mostly flat with limited shade, so sun protection is recommended during the summer months.
• Chiufen (Jiufen Old Street) - Step into this historic former gold-mining mountain town, originally developed by the Japanese, now a labyrinth of lanes rich in history. The charming streets, mostly stairways, are lined with snack stalls and teahouses and can become quite busy. (Tip: To experience Jiufen at sunset or dusk, consider departing after 11:00 AM. This will make Jiufen the final stop, allowing time to enjoy the sunset views and evening lights.)
• Shifen Waterfall - Known as Taiwan’s most famous waterfall, Shifen Waterfall is fed by the Keelung River and stands approximately 20 meters (66 feet) high and 40 meters (131 feet) wide. The walk to the viewing platform takes about 30 minutes, offering partial shade and a suspension bridge crossing.
• Shifen Old Street - Situated next to Shifen Station in the Pingxi area, this old street features an active railway line running directly through the market. Visitors can launch sky lanterns on the tracks, pausing whenever a train passes by.
