Not a sugarcoated tour - The Whitney Plantation allowed us to hear the real hard truths about slavery. I’m so glad we went as a lot of these historical sites are being ruined by hurricanes. Our driver Dionne also gave us a bunch of information about sites along our route. It’s worth the morning!!

Great Experience! - This was a fabulous experience and our tour guide was knowledgeable as well as fun! The drive to the plantation was an hour and our driver gave us detailed information about the city as well as the various plantations we passed once we were in the vicinity of our destination. I would definitely recommend this small group experience over a larger tour company!

Excellent plantation travel - This was a great way to experience the history of the plantations and see outside of New Orleans! At first I thought I would see less by picking one plantation but our guide was very knowledgeable and explained the history of others along the river and give us good visuals from the van. Highly recommended!

Great experience! Recommend it to everyone! - The tour driver was excellent: helpful, informative, humorous, and enjoyable. The Whitney Plantation Tour itself was an eye-opener concerning slavery history from a slave's point of view, not a slave owner's viewpoint. It was a hard reminder of the difficulties and brutality slaves experience, but as one person said: "Although it is a painful history, it is a necessary one."

Eye-opening! - Our van driver gave us a lot of information on the way to the plantation which was interesting. I really enjoyed being able to take my time and really listen to and read the stories of the slaves. I learned about the slave revolt which I had never heard of or been taught about.

My favorite tour of the... - My favorite tour of the trip. Definitely helped that the weather was perfect. The self-guided audio tour is really well done, and allows you to go at your own pace. A little bit more time at the plantation would have been nice, but it was enough to see pretty much everything. Highly recommend.

We paid a lot of money for a van ride - The trip and tour were okay. It was a lovely day and the plantation was worth the visit. Our driver though was just a driver. There was no guide, no professional overview of the history. We simply listened to the radio on a van on the way to and from the plantation. We probably should have saved some money and rented a car.
