- Lawrence’s Spring - Situated at the top of a brief climb, head towards the Fig Tree to find this spring, located 2 km southwest of Wadi Rum village. Named after Lawrence’s vivid depiction in The Seven Pillars of Wisdom: “in front of us a path, pale with use, zigzagged up the cliff-plinth… Among the trees, in the hidden crannies of the rock, issued strange cries, the echoes, turned into music, of the Arabs watering the camels at the springs which flowed out three hundred feet above the ground.” While the pool itself is a stagnant puddle, the panoramic views of the desert are breathtaking.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - Among the vast stretches of rust-colored sand in the Wadi Rum desert, the RED SAND DUNE, or “Al Hasany” in Arabic, is the most renowned. Officially called “Al Ramal,” it is more commonly known by its descriptive name. It stands out against a cliffside, appearing as if part of the mountain. Colored red by iron oxide, this dune is smooth and soft underfoot, making it ideal for barefoot walking!
- Jebel Khazali - Khazali Canyon is home to petroglyphs etched into the cave walls, depicting humans and antelopes from the Thamudic era. This narrow valley features numerous Nabataean rock carvings of humans and animals.
Jebel Khazali, a peak in the center of the Wadi Rum Reserve, opens into a narrow crevice about 100 meters long. Its inner walls are adorned with Thamudic, Nabataean, and Islamic inscriptions, along with rock carvings of humans and animals. Noteworthy are the petroglyphs of soles of feet, which may have held religious significance.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - LITTLE ROCK BRIDGE - Easily climbable, the Little Rock Bridge offers spectacular views across a vast desert expanse. Accessible and safe, it’s ideal for families with children and those less comfortable with heights.
- Lawrence’s House - While it’s uncertain if this was Lawrence’s residence, stories suggest he lived and/or stored weapons here. The current structure is built on the ruins of a Nabataean building, another beautiful desert spot. Little remains of this building, erected on the Nabataean ruins of a water reservoir. However, legend claims Lawrence stayed here during the Arab Revolt, making it a must-see on the regular 4x4 tours. Nearby is a Nabataean inscription mentioning the area’s ancient name, Iram. The remote location and uninterrupted view of the red sand dunes are the main attractions.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - MUSHROOM ROCK - Nature sometimes creates small wonders, like Mushroom Rock. Over centuries, rain and wind have sculpted this sandstone into the shape of mushrooms.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - BURDAH ROCK BRIDGE - The largest of Rum’s three arches, the Burdah Rock Bridge, is perched about 80 meters above the surrounding rocks. A steep hike leads to the summit. Its height and location offer one of the most spectacular sunsets imaginable.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - ABU KHASHABA CANYON - Wild fig trees and desert bushes among massive boulders and red and yellow sands make this canyon unique. Wadi Abu Khashaba is a valley worth visiting, requiring about an hour to walk through.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - UM FROUTH ROCK BRIDGE - A lower rock bridge featured on many tours, easily accessible for a short climb of 5-15 minutes, offering stunning views of the surrounding area.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - END TOUR: WATCH THE SUNSET! - Relax and enjoy the renowned Wadi Rum Sunset.
