- Lawrence’s Spring - This spring is located at the top of a short climb near the Fig Tree, approximately 2 km southwest of Wadi Rum village. It is named after Lawrence’s vivid description in The Seven Pillars of Wisdom: “in front of us a path, pale with use, zigzagged up the cliff-plinth… Among the trees, in the hidden crannies of the rock, issued strange cries, the echoes, turned into music, of the Arabs watering the camels at the springs which flowed out three hundred feet above the ground.” While the pool itself is a stagnant puddle and not particularly impressive, the views across the desert are breathtaking.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - The RED SAND DUNE, known as “Al Hasany” in Arabic, is the most renowned dune in the Wadi Rum desert. Officially called “Al Ramal,” it is more commonly recognized by its descriptive name. It stands out against a cliff, appearing as if it is part of the mountain. The dune’s red color is due to iron oxide, and its smooth, soft surface makes it ideal for walking barefoot.
- Jebel Khazali - Khazali Canyon is home to petroglyphs etched into the cave walls, depicting humans and antelopes from the Thamudic era. This narrow valley features numerous Nabataean rock carvings of humans and animals.
Jebel Khazali, a peak situated in the center of the Wadi Rum Reserve, opens into a narrow crevice about 100 meters long. Its inner walls are adorned with Thamudic, Nabataean, and Islamic inscriptions, as well as rock carvings of humans and animals. Noteworthy are the petroglyphs of soles of feet, which may have held religious significance.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - LITTLE ROCK BRIDGE - This easily climbable bridge offers spectacular views across a vast desert expanse. It is accessible and safe, making it ideal for families with children and those less comfortable with heights.
- Lawrence’s House - Although it is uncertain if this was Lawrence’s residence, stories suggest he lived or stored weapons here. The current structure is built on the ruins of a Nabataean building, adding to its charm in the desert. Little remains of this building, originally constructed on the Nabataean ruins of a water reservoir. Legend has it that Lawrence stayed here during the Arab Revolt, making it a popular stop on the regular 4x4 tours of the area. Nearby, a Nabataean inscription mentions the area’s ancient name, Iram. The remote location and uninterrupted views of the red sand dunes are the main attractions.
- Wadi Rum Protected Area - UM FROUTH ROCK BRIDGE - This lower rock bridge is featured on many tours and can be easily climbed. The ascent takes 5-15 minutes, and the view of the surrounding area is stunning.
