Incredible Exhibition - The museum is very complete, including a movie explaining the history of Porto from the period of great navigation to the war against France during the French Revolution. The ticket is expensive, but it is great value for money.

A piece of Porto history - Booked a triple ticket and chose this as the 1st exhibit. Thoroughly enjoyed, lots of reading and interesting information. It was fairly quiet which made it easy to navigate. Would have liked a few more interactive elements but highly enjoyable. Recommend.

Expensive and disappointing. - This museum is expensive at £20, per person, but my husband and I enjoy history and thought this place would give us a good insight into the history of Oporto. It certainly met that brief; there was lots of information tracing the history of the town from pre-history to the present day and we came out feeling that we had learned a lot. Unfortunately we didn’t feel that the experience was interactive enough and there were very few real items to view. You walk through a series of rooms, each representing a time zone. Most rooms consisted of writing on the walls, explaining the history. Even an avid reader, like myself, soon got fed up of reading masses of material, which I could have accessed on the internet in the comfort of my own home. Someone with limited reading skills would struggle with this form of presentation. Some rooms used an audio visual display instead, so you sat down and watched a screen. There was something missing - the WOW factor. I would definitely not take children to this museum - they would be bored. Overall not worth the money.
