Join us for a walking tour accentuated by audio snippets of Vienna’s musical magnificence and insightful narratives from your tour guide specializing in music history. On this 3-hour journey, we delve into the lives and masterpieces of renowned composers like Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven, among others. The tour takes you through significant locations where these maestros lived and showcased their talent.
You’ll also visit the iconic monuments dedicated to these legendary figures in Vienna, fondly dubbed the “City of Music”. In addition, we’ll explore the pivotal role the Habsburg family played in shaping Vienna into a pulsating hub of classical music.
Our stops include Stephansdom, a stage graced by Haydn, Mozart, Salieri, and Vivaldi. We continue to Mozarthaus, where Mozart composed several of his eminent operas and symphonies. Our journey further leads us to Beethoven’s memorial, shedding light on his tumultuous life – he lived in over sixty residences in Vienna.
Further, we’ll pass by the regal building where Beethoven tutored Archduke Rudolph in piano. Lastly, marvel at Vienna’s musical heritage at the legendary State Opera House and Musikverein.

Good for Non Music Geeks - The tour was wonderful, especially for someone who possesses little classical music training. The tour guide was wonderful, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic.

Unmissable for history of music in Vienna - Thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Annelie… she is extremely knowledgeable and can tailor the tour to your interests as well as your level of knowledge of the topic. Highly recommended! Next time, I will commission Annelie to recommend/ curate musical performances and special sights around Vienna. She’s fabulous!

Making Vienna Memorable - Once you’ve checked all the Vienna must-do sights, and it’s time to truly make your Vienna visit special, take this tour with Annelie. She’ll provide extraordinary insights into musical Vienna, the players, their music, and sites. And her enthusiasm is infectious. Note: despite our family being somewhat classical music novices, we still enjoyed this tour tremendously. A truly memorable experience.

Don't Hesitate to Take This Tour! - Our private Vienna music tour with Annelie was absolutely magnificent! Annelie was a thoroughly knowledgeable, friendly, and personable guide, who provided excellent information about the musicians who resided in Vienna, escorting us to key locations where they lived and made music. We loved how Annelie provided headsets so we could listen to various pieces of music that corresponded to the composers/locations, as well as a plethora of photos that enhanced the experience. She also willingly accommodated our requests. To top it all off, Annelie took us to a very special restaurant for our lunch at the conclusion of our tour. Do not hesitate to book this fabulous tour!

Annelie is WONDERFUL!! - We are a music-loving family and we came to Vienna to immerse ourselves in the city which was the birthplace of classical music. Annelie was the perfect guide, incredibly knowledgeable about the city and the history of the many famous composers who worked here. Annelie prepared a well-researched walking tour to show us highlights and tell us stories of what happened at each place. She brought many props to bring the anecdotes to life: printed photos, video clips and music selections to enhance our experience. As a bonus, she was very patient with our young daughter who needed a bathroom or a short rest several times. The day was hot so when our tour ended, Annelie was able to negotiate a table for us inside a lovely, cool and comfortable cafe overlooking the opera house where we lingered over a delicious lunch. She attended our every need and we learned so much! We highly recommend Annelie!!

Superb Music Tour - A Truly Special Experience - The tour with Annelie was superb. She is so knowledgeable and was very flexible adapting the tour to my interests.
She provided a wonderful overview of important moments in Vienna's music history together with relevant recordings and pictures. Playing an excerpt of Mozart's Requiem at the location of his memorial service brought me to tears.
She even took me to the Philharmonic offices to see if there were any returns for a concert that week. The only two seats available - on the stage behind the orchestra - would not have happened without her - so she was also responsible for one of our most memorable musical experiences ever.
This is a truly special tour with an outstanding guide - I cannot recommend her enough.

Vienna Music tour—superb! - Call Emily our tour guide-Annelie—was truly superb! our tour was centered on the music history of the area, and she surprised me with her in-depth knowledge of the history. As a professional musician, I was especially pleased with the insight and background she provided. I would heartily recommend her for anyone seeking a unique and enriching overview of the areas history.

Don't Hesitate to Take This Tour! - Our private, three-hour walking tour with Annelie, an excellent guide with Insight Cities Vienna Tours, was the highlight of our visit to Vienna. Kind, knowledgeable, and friendly, Annelie escorted us to key places that connected us to Vienna's classical music heritage and was open to helping us exploring our stated interests. We enjoyed viewing Annelie's many photos/pictures that corresponded to the locations and listening to music of the composers we discussed. Annelie recommended a totally delightful restaurant for lunch at the end of our tour. We felt so fortunate to have Annelie as our guide, and she has our highest recommendation.

We loved the music tour! - We loved the music tour. Our guide was fun and informative. We loved hearing her personal stories to make the tour come to life. We appreciated the photos she showed us of the people we learned about. And hearing the music as we walked was an unexpected and awesome surprise. Highly recommend!

Exceptional, knowledgeable and enthusiastic - Annelie was an exceptional, extremely knowledgeable and well-researched, friendly, passionate and enthusiastic guide. She was very thorough and flexible in adapting her tour for me (a classical musician) and my partner (an architect). Annelie manages to create a tour that was an excellent combination of both our interests. If you are in Vienna for only a few days, do yourself the favour and book a private tour with Annelie!
