- Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna - Built by Emperor Franz Joseph to house the splendid imperial collections, it is now one of the world’s most important museums. Artefacts from ancient Egypt to classical antiquity to the late 18th century document the patronage and connoisseurship of the art-loving members of the House of Habsburg. In the Picture Gallery you can see celebrated master-pieces by Rubens, Rembrandt, Raphael, Vermeer, Velázquez, Titian and Durer, as well as the world’s largest collection of works by Bruegel. At the Kunstkammer Vienna goldsmith’s works such as the famous saliera by Benvenuto Cellini, sculptural masterpieces, filigree works in ivory, valuable timepieces and complex automata by the best and most famous artists of the day – each item unique in the world – provide an unrivalled cross-section through the history of art. Equally enjoyable for every art-lover is the magnificent building itself with its imposing staircase featuring a series of paintings on which Gustav Klimt collaborated.

Treasury - A visit to the treasure trove with the collected art treasures is a MUST for those interested - the collection is so extensive, however, that for a one-time visit, what is held is - in our view - too much; a return is worthwhile...

Impressive Vienna - Perfect hotel, very friendly staff, very shambolic and well located.

A visit that was worthwhile - In January I was alone at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna, and I have to say it surprised me really positively. I was impressed by the size and architecture of the building when I went in – everything looks very elegant and historic.
I had enough time to look at everything in peace, which I personally found very pleasant. Especially the paintings of the old masters fascinated me. Some pictures I knew from the Internet or from class, but seeing them in real life is something else entirely. The details, colours and atmosphere look much more intense.
Since I was there alone, I could decide for myself where to stay longer and what I might watch faster. In January it wasn't too crowded either, so the mood was calm and relaxed. You could really focus on the art.
Overall, the visit was a very nice and inspiring experience for me. I can definitely recommend the museum – even if you go alone.

Must see - Fantastic museum. Calculate good time, at least 2 hours, preferably more. Good to eat before you arrive, there is a lovely cafe there, but it was a long line to get a table.

Beautiful Museum! - This museum was absolutely STUNNING and seemingly never-ending. I came in the evening and while it was crowded, I am sure mid-day or earlier in the day. If possible I'd recommend arriving at a 'non-peak' time because the crowds can get a bit overwhelming. The architecture alone is note-worthy. Definitley make time to stop in the cafe if you can!

Classical art gallery - The art in this museum is mainly classical and up to mid 19th century. The building is beautiful and a masterpiece and the cafe in the centre is spectacular.

Big groups of students spoiled our experience - This is an amazing place with some fantastic works of art and extremely interesting artefacts.
Our visit was spoiled by the huge groups of students and their teachers, who completely monopolised some of the artworks, with no consideration for other visitors. It was impossible to get anywhere near some of the paintings we would like to have seen, because no sooner had one group moved away, the next group took up position! In the end we gave up in the picture gallery and went to the Roman/ Egyptian galleries instead, which were fantastically curated and much quieter. We came away disappointed not to have seen some of the things we’d been oiling forward to.

Annoyed - There was no skip the line anything. We had to wait in a huge museum line only to be toldvww had to go exchange our "voucher" fir a real ticket and then had to line up at the ticket booth to do that and then again to get back in the entrance lineup. There was no indication from Viatour that we needed to exchange the voucher. There was no skip the line entrance area. Really annoying and false advertising.

Very nice Museum, but derogatory staff. - So... The Museum itself is superb; many pieces to see, the architecture is sublime. Really interesting, if you love art and culture.
Small + for the cafe that is in its center, the place is beautiful.
Now, what ruined my experience and made me lose 3 stars: it's the STAFF. One in particular, who was obnoxious and rude, when he clearly confused us with two other people. Know that the museum closes its doors at 6pm, but that we will kick you out at 5:50pm telling you that you should visit faster, arrive earlier and come back the next day! At almost 30€ the entrance, we laugh yellow:)
We were able to admire all the artworks, go to the shop, but taking ONE photo on the top floor with the view of the cafe was refused, in a particularly unpleasant way.

More like 'wait in line' - The museum is beautiful. But there is no 'skip the line.' Instead they send you to wait in a slow group ticket line before entering. And we had our tickets printed in advance. Best to buy at the museum. Otherwise 'skipping the line' means waiting in line for no reason.
