Setting Sail on the Salish Sea

The thrill of the open sea has always called to me, and the promise of encountering the majestic orcas of British Columbia was an adventure I couldn’t resist. As I boarded the zodiac in Victoria’s picturesque Inner Harbour, the anticipation was electric. Our captain, Mark, a seasoned veteran with nearly three decades of experience, greeted us with a reassuring smile. His expertise was evident, and I felt an immediate sense of trust as we embarked on this marine odyssey.

The zodiac, a nimble and open-air vessel, was perfect for the adventurous at heart. It was a sight that left me in awe, a reminder of the raw beauty and untamed spirit of nature.

Mark and the other captains were respectful of the whales’ natural habitat, maintaining a safe distance while allowing us to witness their majestic dance. Sitting at the back of the boat, I found the ride exhilarating yet comfortable, with the option to stand for a better view of the action.

As we returned to the harbour, tales of humpback whales breaching filled the air, a testament to the rich marine life that calls these waters home.
