- Mondo’s Beach - You’ll want to prepare to drive 25-30 mintues south of Santa Barbara for the best possible surfing experience. You’ll meet your instructor at our surf van located at the beach where you’ll get suited up in a wetsuit, grab a long board, and walk to the sand for beach instruction. After some brief teaching on surf safety, etiquette, and technique we’ll rush into the ocean to catch you some waves! Your instructor will be coaching you and pushing you into waves to make the experience a memory that will last!\n\nOur lessons are private so you or your group will have their own instructor and personalized experience.\n\nThe majority of our lessons are for first timers which is why our lessons include: a surfboard, wetsuit, and 90 minutes of private instruction. Typically, lessons are taught at beaches with a sandy bottom and gentle waves just a few miles south of Santa Barbara. \n\nPlease note: You must know how to swim in order to surf with us. There is a high probability that you won’t have to swim during your lesson but as a safety precaution, we ask that everyone surfing with us knows how to swim.\n\nPlease note that gratuities are not included in the cost of the lesson.

This city in Southern California provides a myriad of outdoor activities including all-year-round surfing.

Just right for a total novice - Tyler was a good instructor, stayed upbeat as I struggled, helped me gradually improve. After an hour, he ran back to the van to get me a better beginners board, which led to my best rides. I thought he was about perfect.

pvt surf lesson - we had a private surf lesson with Jack. He was great. Very patient. Good teacher. Each of us was able to get up and surf multiple waves, even though this was our first time. Would highly recommend.

Excellent surf lesson - I can't say enough good things about our surf lesson with Tyler from Santa Barbara Surf School! We met him at Mondo's beach in Ventura, got our wet suits on, had a brief lesson on land, and then spent the rest of the 1.5-hour class catching waves. My husband and I were a little apprehensive at first since this was our first time surfing but he did an excellent job of setting our mind at ease and ensuring we were successful. We both managed to stand up on our first try which was amazing and this set the tone for a really wonderful time. We would recommend Tyler and SB Surf School in a heartbeat!

We had a great surf lesson! - We recently took a surf lesson with Santa Barbara Surf School.
Noah, has been an amazing instructor and so nice and patient with us.
Mondo’s beach is a perfect spot to practice.

Perfect Surf School for beginners ! - Awesome Surf School. Went there 2 times and had really good instructors.
They did not waste time at the beach for Instructions. And we went straight into the waves to learn it while actually doing it.
The spot where they teach is absolutely perfect for beginners.
Would really recommend this Surf School !

Amazing First Lesson - Our East Coast kids, 15 and 11, had an incredible experience. Our instructor, Noah, was so personable and had the kids up and surfing in no time. This is a memory we will forever cherish. Only compliant? Now my kids both want surfboards!

So much fun!! - Our instructor Seth was a great teacher and super friendly/easy to talk to! We had a great time and managed to make a few waves! If you love the beach and outdoor activities, this is a must-do in the Santa Barbara area!
