Highlights

At your chosen time, meet your guide at the dock near the Royal Gardens Gate. The itinerary starts from St.Mark’s basin, from where you can admire San Giorgio Maggiore, a 16th-century Benedictine church on the island of the same name, which is one of the three Churches designed by Andrea Palladio and visible from St.Mark: the Church of the Redentore (Redeemer) and the Church of Santa Maria della Presentazione is better known as Le Zitelle.

The Grand Canal is lined on either side by palaces, churches, hotels, and other public buildings in Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance styles. Following the path, you can admire some properties of the important noble venetian families, for instance Palazzo Gritti and Palazzo Corner on the right side, and Palazzo Flangini on the left side. A little further on, on the opposite side, Ca’ Vendramin Calergi: the architecturally distinguished building was the home of many prominent people through history, and is remembered as the place where composer Richard Wagner died. Currently, it is home to the Venice Casino. Ever on the left, Ca’ d’Oro, one of the older palaces in the city, it is known as Ca’ d’Oro (“golden house”) due to the gilt and polychrome external decorations which once adorned its walls.

After the bow of the Canal, you will come face-to-face with one of the most famous attraction in the world: the Rialto Bridge. For centuries the Rialto has been the primary financial and commercial center of Venice. Several other palaces facing on the Grand Canal: Ca’ Farsetti and Palazzo Cavalli, headquartes of the Municipality of Venice, and, following the path, Ca’ Foscari, the palace of the Foscari family. Passing under the Accademia bridge, you can admire, on the left, Palazzo Cavalli Franchetti and Palazzo Barbaro, following on the right, Ca’ Dario well known as accursed Palace.

The tour finish where it starts: on St.Mark’s Basin, with a 360° wonderful view of the city, between the Santa Maria della Salute Church and Doge’s Palace, the most iconic building of the city.

At the end of the tour, the boat will return to the dock.

It was very enjoyable to... - It was very enjoyable to have a small group tour of the Grand Canal recently. We were all able to be outdoors and take photos of the amazing historical buildings. Our guide provided meaningful commentary and was able to answer any questions that the group had. Our driver was very good as well and both made it a trip to remember.

Great experience! - Great experience! Customer friendly! We we’re running late as we went to the wrong pick up spot…we called to let them know and they did everything they could to make sure we got onnthe tour or reschedule for a different time. Very impressed.

Just OK - The guide was disassociated with the guest. We were never allowed to ask questions. She sat outside of the boat while we were on the inside. This also made it hard to see most of the buildings.

Lost opportunities - My trip was scheduled for 5:30 and I was at/very near the meeting point from 5:10. No one from the tour appeared to tell me there had been a problem with the guide, apparently. I only found out by making inquiries at the ticket office as I was thinking of taking the trip unguided to ensure I got to seethe Grand Canal as my last activity in Venice. The ticket office arranged for my booking to be transferred to 6:30. The trip itself was as interesting as I hoped although could have been more enjoyable - once we reached the Canal and I was allowed to sit outside to take photos it was hard to hear a lot of the guides commentary as the speaker was placed at the stern while the sitting outside/standing spot was behind the driver.

Nice introduction to Venice - This approximately 50 minute tour of the Grand Canal was enjoyable, if not particularly insightful or special. The guide was pleasant and professional and it is always interesting to view Venice by water. Perhaps, I may have enjoyed it more if it were my first trip to Venice or my first activity while in Venice. Under the circumstances, it was pleasant, but not special.

Poorly organized Murano, Torcello and Burano tour - The times for each of the stops are short, with 45 minutes from when the boat docks until it leaves. It means that in the end there are at most 35 minutes to visit each island. The stop in Torcello totally unnecessary. There is only one bar with food that is very poor in quality and quantity, which all travelers use to eat something so they can spend time getting to know the main islands of Murano and Burano. The only thing that can be visited in Torcello is so far away that there is almost no time to go and come back. The boat we went on had a broken microphone, and they changed us to another boat in Murano, but the microphone was of poor quality and we couldn't understand what the guide was saying. The narrow seats. On the positive side, for 25 euros and a 4.5-hour trip you have the opportunity to briefly see these islands around Venice and that the guide is comfortable in several languages.

Fraudulent Excursion!!! - Tour from San Marcos-Murano-Burano-Torcello. We leave for Murano, to the factory's own dock. In 10 minutes they teach you to make 2 figures and go straight to the store. We continue to Torcello (there is nothing!!!) You pass through Burano without getting off!!!! With how beautiful the streets of Murano and Burano are!!! A ruin!!!! Don't go!!!!

Alilaguna shame - Be very careful with this Alilaguna company, they are a fraud, we were left without our paid and confirmed tour. According to them, it was not their fault, they treated us very badly and did not give us any solution.
