- Sinagoga Levantina - Enjoy a guided tour of the Levantine Synagogue and Spanish Synagogue in Venice. Although the main exhibition of the Jewish Museum (Museo Ebraico) is temporarily closed for renovations, the museum provides an opportunity to explore two of its synagogues in the historic Jewish Ghetto. This is a unique chance to delve into the living history of the world’s oldest ghetto while appreciating the elegant interiors of the Levantine and Spanish Synagogues. Both synagogues were originally constructed in the 16th century and later rebuilt in the 17th century by renowned architects and artists who skillfully utilized the limited space in the densely populated Ghetto. They represent the heart of Jewish Venice, discreetly located on the upper floors of the Venetian “skyscrapers.” The Expert Guide will offer insights into their uniqueness and their role in serving the local Jewish community during the years of segregation. This experience is essential for anyone interested in Jewish culture and architecture.
