Highlights
  • Vega Baja - Get ready to get wet almost as soon as this adventure starts. Just a few minutes of walking downhill, we will encounter a nice trail taking us to a quiet part of the river where it forms small beautiful greenish blue pools and goes underground and downstream through stunning rock formations. There we will do some river trekking, jump and swim in the river and under a cave and later float lazily downstream. We will continue to the second and most popular area. Here, we will see a small but amazing open cave or more like a small canyon carved by the passing of the river for thousands of years. The rock formations are amazing, unique looking and there you can just walk around the formations and flowstones, jump or just relax floating in the water between the canyon to admire this nature’s gift.

The highlight of my trip to Puerto Rico - The Arenales Cave and River Adventure trip was a blast from start to finish. The tour guide, Yamile, makes everyone feel like family right from the get-go which was perfect for me being a solo traveler. The journey was definitely physically demanding in some spots, but Yamile did a fantastic job explaining how to approach every step of the way so I never felt unsafe or unsure about getting around. As far as what to wear - follow the guidelines and I would recommend a long sleeve shirt if possible. The water was cool but refreshing given it was in the upper 80s the day of my trip. The scenery throughout the trip was breathtaking, and the local food stop was a great added touch to refuel after an active morning. Yamile's passion for her home country, as well as her passion for what she does shines through tremendously. She is super knowledgeable about the history and the nature of the area and has great ideas for what else there is to do in the area so it helped that I was able to book this right at the start of my trip. I can't say enough great things about this adventure - you won't regret going!

The ONLY way to see the caves of Arenales! - Yamile has been and continues to be completely amazing! She genuinely treats you as family opening up her knowledge and connections within the island even after the excursion. Truly above and beyond! I literally have never had as amazing of a guide and we have done a ton of adventures as a family! My teenagers and wife and I absolutely loved floating through gorgeous open canyons and exploring dark caves. The attached pictures are worth a 1000 words. There is no possible way you could do this on your own because your car would get stuck when going there, the caves flood and the path is treacherous if you don’t know where to step. Yet Yamile’s effortless knowledge points out where to hold and step even for my shorter 12 yo. On the drive she calls and genuinely treats the whole group as la familia which encourages everyone to also develop great camaraderie. It really felt like we were one big happy family as a group and it was Yamile’s je ne sais quoi that facilitated this. Yamile also has aided us greatly for the rest of our adventures so I would recommend you book this at the beginning of your trip. Honestly better than snorkeling, bioluminescence bay. The only comparable if you want your teenagers to gain an appreciation for scuba diving is sea turtle scuba diving with no experience required with included photos and videos in escabron (a little east of old san juan). If you have trouble climbing on hands and feet then this is probably too tough for you. Also you need to be ok with tennis shoes getting wet and maybe ruined. Best are water socks with rubber soles. Our day was perfect temperature with water and air temperature. In the summer, air can get too hot so bring coolibar zip down long sleeve shirt and shorts because you may want water soaked shirt to cool down or take off depending on best way to keep cool. In the winter, water can be too cold so consider wet suit. Reach out to Yamile to nail the clothing perfectly before you travel. If you don’t it’s not terrible but I know how picky some are on trip advisor striving for the ideal experience. Again Yamile is unbelievably awesome and this trip is equally truly unique and amazing! 11 stars if I could give it (yes I realize it’s on a 5 star scale :D )

Best tour, try to book at beginning of the trip, you won't regret - Wow, the best tour! We have been traveling a lot, but this one really stands out. We had been Puerto Rico about 17 days already. Yamile was so professional, knowledgeable, communicated well. The energy level was outstanding which made the tour so enjoyable!!! She was able to help people with all levels of abilities and made a sure we were safe, no injuries. The tour included two caves and rivers trakking underneath and that were fun and exciting: jumping into rivers, trakking in the darkness which was so unique. The lunch stop was a great choice for real tasty Puerto Rico food, I mean tasting...we ended up ordering about 10 different dishes taking home😋😋😋

Amazing river trekking adventure - The Puerto Rico as a Local Arenales Cave, River Trekking and Natural Spring Adventure is a must! Be prepared, it might be a little strenuous for some, but the adventure and experience are well worth it. This is great couples or family adventure. Yamile is a delight as a tour guide. She administers a well-run and professional tour operation and provides an amazing historical and ecological narrative as you go. We highly recommend this tour!

Memories for a lifetime! - Totally worth it! This is a very exertional tour. You must be physically fit and wear the appropriate gear. You will be wet most of the time and swimming. You will return exhausted, but very happy. Yamile, your tour guide, is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, organized, and helpful. She knows all the secret spots! Relatively small groups. A tour to remember!

Enhance your Puerto Rico trip with this awesome excursion! - The success of this tour is due to our guide, Yamile. She was thorough from beginning to end. She sent text confirmation along with personally calling to review details and confirm pick up time and location. She immediately connected with our group of travelers and gave us the opportunity to connect with each other. The connection with each other enhanced the excursion. Our group consisted of families and couples age ranging from 11-60 years old. Yamile was careful to make sure all travelers were safe. As she shared about the surroundings, nature, water falls, caves, etc., she did it with passion. She encouraged and supporter our group of adventurers. Therefore, we also encouraged and supported each other. Yamile was the supreme photographer. She made sure to take pictures of families, couples, etc and she knows the best spot and best lighting. This excursion requires walking, hiking, climbing, swimming with life vest, and jumping into the water (if you want). It’s a physically rewarding excursion. Nature is magical! Give yourself to the wonder of the water, caves, and nature. Yamile added a special touch to our Puerto Rico experience.

Number one, no doubt! - No wonder this tour is rated #1 attraction in Puerto Rico! We do not have enough words to express our gratitude to the wonderful guide, Yamille. She is absolutely the best! The journey was very interesting and adventurous. The views were very special and impressive! Even the food in the restaurant we stopped was great and not expensive at the same time. Would definitely go again and recommend my friends. Thank you!
