Thorough and informative - Very good and thorough tour. We visited all the most important sites. The guide was nice and very knowledgeable, he gave us a lot of information about everything and answered all the questions. He took pictures of me as I was travelling solo, and even tried to contact my mum on his phone because I had no signal on my phone. Unfortunately, Telecoms of Bosnia and Chile are not connected, so it didn't work. In any case, I highly recommend this tour.

Visit all the island's most iconic stone landmarks in one day - Joaquín is an excellent tour guide, he introduces us vividly and interestingly, sometimes sings us old dances, guides and takes us good photos and videos at the sign attractions

A good tour for archeology buffs - First, let's deal with the elephant in the room: the price. This was $120 USD per person, which does not include the mandatory $80 per person park pass. For a family of four, that's $800, not including the tip (if you choose to tip the guide) and lunch. That's huge for just one day! Of course, if you're coming to Easter Island, cost might not be your greatest concern. :-) With that said, the biggest question is: Was it worth it? I wish I could say yes. Don't get me wrong. The tour was nice. But I don't know if it was $800 nice. The previous day, we rented a car for about $90. That was primarily to go to the Anakena beach to lay out and relax. But on the way back, we took the long route along the east side of the island, and saw all the same beautiful hills, seaside, and even maoi statues (though from the roadside) that we saw on the tour. What the tour buys you is: 1. *Up close access* to the maoi, particularly the most famous row of 15 that you've seen in photographs before. However, there are several maoi that you can get up close to for free. Ask the rental car people for a map and they'll show you. As for the famous 15: you still get pretty close from the road, in my opinion. 2. A tour guide to explain things. Though you could get this from a reliable book or internet. 3. Access to the quarry where the maoi were produced. Frankly, our trip would have been less if we weren't allowed in here. Seeing the greatest concentration of the maoi, some of which are still uncompleted and half carved out of the mountain, was definitely the highlight of the tour. In short, if you are primarily interested in the natural scenery of the island, and don't need to see *the most famous* maoi up close, then you might want to save your money. If you feel you do need this, or don't want to risk coming all this way and missing out on something, or really like to hear about the history, then sure, go on this tour. (There are cheaper tours. But be careful: some I noticed don't take you to the most important sites). But if I had to do it again, I'd probably just stick with the car.
