Highlights
  • Central Market of Valencia - A quick visit and a lovely tasting

Mercat Central (Central Market) is a public market located across from the Llotja de la Seda and the church of the Juanes in central Valencia. It is one of the main works of the Valencian Art Nouveau. The Central Market of Valencia is one of the largest in Europe; it covers more than 8,000 square metres (86,000 sq ft), with a predominantly Valencian Art Nouveau style. Its unusual roof comprises original domes and sloping sections at different heights, while the interior seems to be lined in a range of materials such as iron, wood, ceramics and polychromed tiles. The beauty of the building stands out especially on account of the light that enters through the roof at various points, and through coloured window panels.

  • La Aldea del Portillo de Busto - We will pass through a very old bakery.
The Silk Exchange is a late Valencian Gothic-style civil building. It was built between 1482 and 1533.
  • Placa de la Reina - Plaza de la Reina. The perfect spot to try some ecologic horchata !
  • Plaza del Ayuntamiento - City Hall square. We will have a local apéritif with drink pairing like locals do.
  • Plaza Redonda - Round square. Let’s enjoy a special mi-morning breakfast with a surprising local coffee.

Additional Information

City mornings are mesmerizing as they reveal the most genuine aspects of how locals live in their city. Taking part in a local brunch known as ‘almuerzo’ is a communal practice enjoyed by nearly all inhabitants of Valencia. ‘Almorzar’ is a culinary tradition that encapsulates the essence of Valencia and its people: an undiluted community, fiercely proud of its gastronomic idiosyncrasies! Our local specialists further unpack this unique cultural custom during this tour.

If you’ve just landed in the city, this is an ideal primer to Spanish cuisine, the fundamentals of Valencia, and the local lifestyle. More than a simple tour, we will experience a cultural, gastronomic and walking tour all in one. By the conclusion of this journey, you’ll understand fully why the ‘Esmorzaret Valenciano’ morning culture cannot exist beyond Valencia (which means you’ll have to return!)

The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable on the food and history of Valencia. Even afterwards, they sent us all the places we visited and further recommendations in the city. It is very well organized in my opinion. I recommend to all visitors of Valencia!

A perfect way to experience Valencia’s food and culture - Jack provided us a very rich and enjoyable experience! He expertly wove in history as well as cultural norms of Valencians as we strolled through the beautiful streets of the town. The food at each of the 6 stops was delicious and enriched the cultural experience. We are grateful to have had this experience!

Excellent Food Tour of Valencia - Fatine was a fantastic tour guide. There were 8 in our party and we all thoroughly enjoyed her enthusiasm, knowledge and expertise. The tour was well timed, ie not rushed and very relaxed. We discovered why Spanish (Valancians) have first and second breakfasts. This tour is well worth the money and highly recommended.

Superb Food Tour - We met Rita as directed and stated eating almost straight away. We had walked past the first venue several times before the tour and just hadn’t seen it but we made sure we went back the next day to try some more of their breakfast menu. Visited 7 different food outlets in total in the three hours and we were fortunate enough to end up with a private tour as the other participants cancelled at the last minute. We have done a few food tours in various countries over the years and this was one of the best. Rita was lovely, very knowledgable and engaging. Would really recommend taking a food tour in any country as it is a good way of getting to know a place quickly.

Foodie Heaven! - The tour was excellent! Our guide Fatine was lovely, she was very knowledgeable and we had a lovely group. She took us to places that we never would have found by ourselves, where locals go to eat - and we had tasting sessions at the Central Market. All the food was delicious - just make sure you don’t have breakfast before you go! Would definitely recommend this trip - you get a really good feel for the real Valencia.

Delicious variety of brunch food and drinks - We had an enjoyable experience with Tatiana. She was friendly and spoke highly of the area. We could tell she is passionate about Valencia. We had a wide variety of food, all delicious. We went to a good mix of spots - cafes, the central market, almost like a speakeasy cafe, etc. Even though this was primarily a food tour, we learned a bit about the local history. In the future I would recommend having all of the guests introduce themselves (name, country of origin, what brings you to Spain) at the meeting spot to more easily allow for conversation during the tour.
