• Echmiadzin Monastery - The term “Echmiadzin” signifies the place where “the only begotten son of God descended.” According to legend, Jesus Christ descended from heaven and marked the location for a church to be established. Echmiadzin serves as the residence of the Supreme Catholicos of all Armenians and is the heart of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
• Zvartnots Temple - The splendid Zvartnots Temple was erected in the 7th century. Both the Mother Cathedral and Zvartnots Temple are recognized as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites.
• Garni Temple - The Garni Temple, a pagan structure, was constructed in the 1st century AD by the Armenian King Trdat. It is the sole monument linking to the era of paganism and Hellenism, dedicated to the sun god Mithra.
• The Monastery of Geghard - Located near the Garni Temple, the Monastery of Geghard was founded in the 4th century by the first Armenian Catholicos, Gregory the Illuminator. The monastery’s name is derived from the spear of the Roman soldier who pierced Jesus Christ’s body. This spear is now displayed in the museum of Echmiadzin.
• Azat Reservoir - The Azat Reservoir is a picturesque artificial lake in Armenia’s Ararat Region, constructed in 1976 for irrigation. Nestled among mountains, it is situated near the Azat River and close to attractions like the Geghard Monastery and the “Symphony of Stones.” The reservoir is also a favored location for outdoor activities such as paddleboarding and hiking.
