Additional Information

Embark on a captivating 75-minute guided journey through the bygone era of Creole Louisiana at the Laura Plantation. Situated on the West bank of the Mississippi, at the core of Plantation Country, the main abode traces its history back to 1805. It has been meticulously restored to showcase its past when it served dual roles - a familial dwelling and the administrative center for the sugar plantation. Explore the elevated basement, galleries, men’s and women’s parlors, utility rooms and common areas. Traverse the centuries-old sugar plantation homestead, featuring three gardens: the Jardin Français, the kitchen potager, & BananaLand grove. The tour extends to 12 structures listed on the National Register, including livestock barns, overseers’ lodgings, and the historical 1829 Maison de Reprise. The guided tour brings life to the personal narratives of four generations of free and enslaved individuals of the Creole families who made this place their home.

wonderful - we were picked up on time from our hotel, Dionne, the driver gave us great commentary all along the way to and from the plantation. if was such a relief to have a guide who was not making ridiculous jokes, or trying to be an actor. just facts, history, and ready to answer our questions the plantation tour is with a guide from the plantation. she was just excellent also. gave us tons of information all along the walk through the gardens and buildings. the tour is fantastic because it it told through the generations of the families who lived there. i would highly recommend this company.
