- Physics-Sun - Solar Furnace & Heliocomplex - A visit to the Solar Furnace Sun Institute in Parkent provides a remarkable combination of scientific discovery and natural beauty. Here’s what visitors can typically experience:
At the Solar Furnace Institute:
The Big Solar Furnace: Marvel at the grand scale of the heliocomplex, one of only two in existence globally. The vast parabolic concentrator, with its thousands of mirrors, is truly awe-inspiring.
Heliostat Field: Discover the field filled with numerous large, flat mirrors (heliostats) that automatically follow the sun and direct its rays towards the central concentrator.
Concentrator Tower: Visitors may have the chance to ascend the technological tower that houses the concentrator. From the top, panoramic views of the surrounding Parkent Valley and the Tien Shan Mountains are often visible. Note that as of May 2025, the elevator to the observation deck is reportedly out of service, necessitating a climb up several flights of stairs.
