Our first destination is just outside the city, at the Train Cemetery. A short drive from the city limits reveals a collection of abandoned locomotives, creating a unique and captivating landscape.
Colchani - Next, the journey continues to Colchani Village. Here, visitors will explore the Salt Museum and the Salt Refinery, gaining insight into the extraction and refinement processes. The visit concludes with a stop at local artisan shops to purchase souvenirs, adding a charming touch to the village experience.
Salar de Uyuni - 12:00 p.m. - At noon, the group will enter the Salt Desert, exploring the salt mounds, the “Ojos del Salar” (small holes revealing the water beneath), and the intriguing Playa Blanca Museum, constructed entirely from salt blocks of the Uyuni Salt Flats.
Isla Incahuasi - 1:00 p.m. - The next destination is Incahuasi Island, home to a unique variety of giant cacti. The island’s elevation offers one of the best vantage points to admire the stunning landscape. Capture plenty of photos from this unique perspective of the Uyuni Salt Flats. After a brief walk, enjoy lunch on the white plains before continuing the thrilling adventure.
Uyuni - Around 7:00 p.m., the group will arrive at the Salt Hostel. En route, enjoy the tranquil beauty of a sunset over the Salt Flats. Upon arrival at the hostel, dinner will be shared before settling in for the night.
San Juan - Eduardo Avaroa Park - Siloli Desert - Laguna Colorada
Laguna Canapa - 7:00 a.m. - Day two begins with an early breakfast before departing for the renowned Colorada Lagoon, one of the largest and most picturesque lagoons. Before reaching the lagoon, the journey passes through the Chiguana Salt Flats and stops at the Ollague Volcano Viewpoint for breathtaking views. The tour continues to the Cañapa, Hedionda, Hona, and Ramadita Lagoons, also known as the altiplanic or colored lagoons.
Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - 9:00 a.m. - After traversing the Siloli Desert, the group arrives at the Eduardo Avaroa National Park. Situated over 16,404 feet (5,000 meters) above sea level, it offers stunning views of volcanic landscapes in various colors. A highlight is the famous stone tree, with a stop for a meal along the way.
Laguna Colorada - 6:00 p.m. - The day concludes at the Colorada Lagoon, home to three species of flamingos. Enjoy approximately 20 minutes of free time to explore the flamingos and other wildlife around the lagoon.
To end the day, accommodations near the lagoon provide a chance to relax and explore until nightfall. Dinner is served before retiring to shared dorms (six beds) or a private room (available upon booking). Please note, the second-day accommodations are quite basic.
Sol de la Mañana - Hot Springs - Salvador Dalí Desert - Laguna Verde - Uyuni
Geiser Sol de la Manana - 4:30 a.m. - An early start is essential to visit the “Sol de La Mañana” Geyser Field, as geysers are most active in the early morning. This is also true for fumaroles and small craters with volcanic lava.
Uyuni - The group returning to Uyuni will begin the journey back, with stops including the Black Lagoon, the Valley of Rocks, and the San Cristobal Village Church. Arrival in Uyuni is expected around 5:00 p.m., marking the end of an unforgettable Uyuni Salt Flats Tour experience.
