Uyuni - Begin the tour at 10:30 a.m. with a drive to the Uyuni Salt Flats.
Meeting time: 10:00 a.m.
Meeting point: Our office in Uyuni, one block from the Bus Station. - Train Cemetery - The first stop is the intriguing “Train Graveyard,” located on the outskirts of Uyuni. Discover the first locomotives in Bolivia and learn about their history, which connected several major cities. Now, weathered by the strong salt winds of the desert, it offers a fantastic photo opportunity.
- Colchani - Next, visit the quaint settlement of Colchani, home to salt miners’ workshops adjacent to the salt flats. Here, find handicrafts made of salt and textile art crafted from llama and alpaca wool, perfect for souvenirs.
- Salar de Uyuni - Capture stunning photos as you traverse the vast white salt expanse, explore the “Ojos de Agua Salada” (saltwater eyes), and visit a hotel made entirely of salt, now a museum. Also, see the Flags of the World (where you can add your own flag for free) and a Monument of Dakar racing.
- Isla Incahuasi - After a morning of adventure, enjoy lunch near “Isla Incahuasi” (Fish Island). Then, take a hike to the island’s summit to view giant cacti and rock formations made of petrified coral.
-
Salar de Uyuni - Organize your group for creative perspective and proportion-distorted photos on the dazzling white salt flats. Capture some amusing and unforgettable shots! Finally, head to a spacious area to witness a breathtaking sunset over the salt flats, enjoying the view with a glass of wine.
Arrive in Agencha town for dinner and an overnight stay at the hostel.
Accommodation: Agencha - Rooms with 3, 4, 5, and 6 beds + Private toilets. - Salar de Chiguana - Begin at 7:00 a.m. with breakfast. The first stop is Galaxy Caves, followed by a visit to the Chiguana Desert on the south side of the Uyuni salt flats, surrounded by volcanoes like Ollagüe (5840m), still active and visible from the lookout point. Continue along the rocky road known as “El Pasito Tuntun.”
- Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - Later, visit the Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota Lagoons, where flamingos can be observed.
After lunch, enter the “Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve,” visit the Siloli Desert at 4550m (the highest and driest in the world), and take a photo next to the ‘Rock tree’ (a lava rock formation).
-
Laguna Colorada - Before reaching the final destination, stop at the overlook point by the Red Lagoon to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat and admire the intensely red-colored lake. Spend the night at a hotel in Huayllajara.
Accommodation: Shared 6-bed rooms + shared toilets - 10 Bs extra for a towel - No hot shower. - Geiser Sol de la Manana - Start early around 5:00 a.m. to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser (5,000m) and walk beside fumaroles and steaming craters filled with boiling mud at 150-200°C.
- Aguas Termales de Polques - Then, enjoy a bath in open-air hot springs with water at 35°C.
- Salvador Dali Desert - Next, appreciate the Dali Desert, where Salvador Dali found inspiration from boulders scattered in the desert.
-
Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve of Andean Fauna - Then, visit the Green and White Lagoon (toxic copper water at the foot of the Licancabur volcano at 6000m, near the Bolivia-Chile border).
Then return to Uyuni, enjoying beautiful scenery along the way and having a picnic lunch by the roadside. Pass by Rock Valley, Alota settlement, and San Cristobal Village, where a baroque church and colonial paintings can be seen. - Uyuni - Arrive back in Uyuni town at 6:30 p.m.
