Katherine Outback Experience - The team provides an introduction about our story, history and show.
A young horse is brought into the arena and the team get to work training the horse live in front of the audience, demonstrating the art of horse-starting. We explain the psychology between man and horse, showing how we build trust. If the horse is ready to progress, we will saddle and attempt to ride it, often for the first time. No horse is used more than three times in the show. We then move to our more advanced horses, demonstrating what can be achieved with ongoing training and patience.
Guests are then directed to our large arena where we bring out our team of amazing working dogs. We introduce each dog before showing how we train them to work as a team. The show is never complete without some of Tom’s original songs, performed from the saddle, with guitar in hand.

Katherine Outback Experience is owned and operated by multiple Golden Guitar winner and horseman extraordinaire Tom Curtain. The outback show provides a unique window into life on the land in outback Australia. It is ra and real with horse-starting and working dog demonstrations entwined with Australian music and humorous bush tales. There is dust and chaos, and things don’t always go to plan, but that is part of the beauty of the real outback.
Katherine Outback Experience won best NT Tourist Attraction in 2018 & 2019, best NT Visitor Experience award in 2018 bronze at the 2019 National Tourism Awards.
Tom released his fourth album in November 2019 which debuted at No.1 on the Australian iTunes Country Music Charts. He has had several Chart-topping hits, together with winning two Golden Guitar Awards for his hit single Never Never Land, as well as 2018 Australian Independent Country Music Album of the Year, Artist, Male Vocalist and Single of the Year.

Drive east from Katherine towards Mataranka for 6.5km along Stuart Highway. Turn right onto Buyers Road (sometimes spelt Byers Road) just before the weighbridge. Turn right at the T-Junction onto Collins Road. Turn right at the third gate and follow the gravel road around to the car park.

Don’t miss Tom Curtain. - What an amazing performance. A great entertainer. Great family show catering for all ages with performing dogs and goats and horses as well as plenty of music. Put it on your must see list

A show of great skill and enjoyment. - This was an off-train experience whilst travelling from Adealide to Darwin on the Ghan. It was great. The personnel were very talented, skill full and gentle with the animals. The show was very good fun especially when dogs were being given commands to round up goats. It was hilarious. The audience really enjoyed it

Great experience and entertainment - make sure you add this to your things to do in Katherine - We went to see this show as part of the tour options available with our trip on The Ghan in March 2023, and we are so glad we did - it was the highlight of our whole trip! Great show with the animals, and the horse and dog training was amazing. Add to that Tom's country and western tunes, and it was a really enjoyable experience. So much so, we are heading out to East Gresford in Feb 24 to watch his touring show. If you live anywhere on the East Coast of Australia, you should be able to get to see one of the shows on his tour - "do yourself a favour" and get out there, you'll be glad you did!!

I had an absolute blast! - I had an absolute blast! Tom and the crew appeared to be thoroughly enjoying themselves as well. Tom's interactions with the crowd were outstanding, especially with the kids who were absolutely thrilled!
If you have the opportunity to attend, I strongly encourage you to volunteer – they generously give away a multitude of prizes! Additionally, the merchandise tent offers reasonably priced items. I even got my stubby holder signed!
I wholeheartedly recommend this experience; it truly felt like a once-in-a-lifetime event. Tom's affection for all the animals, whom he considers his 'family,' is abundantly clear. They receive exceptional care and affection, and it's evident that they adore him in return.

Don't miss this ... it's brilliant. - It's been 6 months since we saw Tom's show, but it's still all our kids talk about.
Tom has truly put together an amazing show, and it captures the outback spirit brilliantly.
Traveling around Australia, we have listened to Tom's music pretty much every day ... there is something about it which just fits so well with the Australian scenery and travel.
We can not recommend his show highly enough.
Well done to all involved in creating this experience ... this show and music captures what it is like to live in the Australian outback.

Wonderful experience. - This show was absolutely amazing! Tom is a brilliant entertainer and incredible horseman. All of the staff were great with the animals and the whole show was really enjoyable. It was a very hot day when we went but the seating area is well laid out and there were nice touches to help keep us cool. Wonderful memories of this outback town and the afternoon spent watching the talented people and animals. Also some of the money raised goes to a fantastic cause,

Awesome to watch the horses with the goats and dogs on their backs . Thoroughly enjoyed - Fantastic show. And such a lovely place for families to see the animals.
Tom is very informative on how they train the animals and very funny.
Would highly recommend anyone to see the show.
