An unforgettable and deeply authentic art experience in Udaipur - An unforgettable and deeply authentic art experience in Udaipur We had the privilege of taking part in a painting workshop hosted in the private gallery-home of an extraordinary artist family in Udaipur, whose artistic tradition spans four generations. From the very first moment, it was clear that this was not a tourist attraction, but a rare opportunity to step into a living heritage of authentic Indian art. The hosts are true masters of traditional Indian painting, and they generously shared not only their techniques, but also the cultural and historical meaning behind them. We learned to work with natural, traditional colors and brushes, and were guided patiently through the processes, materials, and philosophy that make this art form so unique. The atmosphere was warm, respectful, and inspiring. Being welcomed into their home and studio made the experience deeply personal and meaningful. It felt like learning from artisans who are not only highly skilled, but also genuinely passionate about preserving and passing on their tradition. This workshop is highly recommended to anyone seeking a genuine cultural experience in Udaipur — far beyond the usual sightseeing. It is an encounter with art, history, and human connection that stays with you long after the last brushstroke. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Authentic personal art experience - We chose to do this miniature art class at Pacific Art on Christmas Day. We were really looked after and my 11 year old and I painted peacocks. The team are authentic and caring we learnt techniques in a really calm manner which was really enjoyable. The studio and workshop are beautifully maintained and it was a comfortable environment to be in for a couple of hours. The skill and workmanship that have been passed on through generations is inspiring. The way in which these artists are aspiring to make an honest living is how Indian artists will be able to earn a living independently. It is brave and one to be supported. If you are doing this class, don’t buy art from elsewhere until you’ve seen their collection.

A “must do” experience in Udaipur - learn traditional art while supporting a local family of artists - The miniature painting workshop was our absolute favorite part of our stay in Udaipur. After seeing all the beautiful miniature paintings across Rajasthan, we sought out a local to teach us and Pacific Art Udaipur delivered. Located on quieter streets in the old city, we were immediately welcomed after scheduling a day-of workshop via WhatsApp (very responsive). First, the shop owner explained the basics (mineral paints, squirrel hair brushes) and their on going success story of being an independent art studio that paints with their heart and are good, honest people. Next, we had a 90 minute private session learning the techniques and creating our own miniature paintings, and even shared in some masala chai during tea time. At the end, we were compelled to support Pacific Art by purchasing some of the beautiful artwork with no sales pressure and left with overwhelming gratitude for our time spent.

An excellent miniature painting experience - An excellent miniature painting experience. The workshop is run by two brothers from a multigenerational family of miniature painters, and you immediately feel the depth of knowledge and care they bring to the craft. They patiently showed us every step, from using the traditional squirrel hair brush for the finest lines to laying down background color. The instruction was clear and encouraging, with absolutely no pressure to rush or “get it right.” It felt calm, generous, and very authentic. What made it especially wonderful was how welcoming the experience was for all ages. Multiple family members participated together, and it worked beautifully for a multigenerational group. Everyone was engaged and supported at their own pace. A truly memorable, hands-on introduction to miniature painting and a fantastic experience for families. Highly recommend.

Unique experience - I had a wonderful experience at the Pacific Art Gallery. The team not only showcased their beautiful in-house miniature paintings but also shared the rich history and traditions behind this intricate art form. It truly felt like a privilege to gain insight into a craft that has been passed down through generations. I also had the chance to try my hand at miniature painting, which made the visit even more memorable. The gallery’s location is peaceful and serene—tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Udaipur’s old city—making it a perfect escape for art lovers. Overall, it was an exceptional experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Udaipur, especially solo travelers looking for unique and meaningful activities.

Great experience - This was a great experience, good fun, very interesting and we got to keep the pictures we painted. We had expert tuition so you don’t need to be a talented artist to have a go at this, we would highly recommend.
