Standing 3600 ft tall and stretching 38 km, it encircles the Udaipur area. Built by Rana Kumbha in the 15th century, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the Hill Forts of Rajasthan. Strategically located on the western Aravalli hills, the fort features seven fortified gateways, numerous Jain temples, and the renowned Lakhola Tank, constructed by Rana Lakha. The presence of both Hindu and Jain temples within the fort reflects the rulers’ religious tolerance and their support for Jain culture.
- Ranakpur Jain Temple - Proceed to the Ranakpur Jain Temple, also known as Chaturmukha Dharana Vihara, dedicated to Tirthankara Rishabhanatha. Situated in the village of Ranakpur near Sadri town in Rajasthan’s Pali district, the temple was initiated by Darna Shah, a local Jain businessman, in the 15th century after a divine vision. According to Jain cosmology, it honors Adinath, the first Tirthankar of the current half-cycle (avasarpiṇī). The Ranakpur temple is one of the largest and most significant in Jain culture, featuring various temples such as the Chaumukha, Surya, Suparshvanatha, and Amba temples.
