Chittorgarh is a charming city and municipality in the Rajasthan state of western India. It was established by Bappa Rawal in the 8th century and is situated at an elevation of 408 meters (1339 feet) above sea level. The city lies along the banks of the Gambhiri and Berach rivers. Notable figures such as the 16th-century poet Mirabai and Rani Padmini hail from Chittorgarh.

The route to Chittorgarh Fort is a winding road safeguarded by seven fortified gateways. In 1534, the fort was besieged by the Sultan of Gujarat. Again, in 1568, it was the site of a four-month siege by the Mughal forces of Akbar, who eventually captured the fortress. It is one of India’s largest fortresses and is a prominent feature of the city’s skyline, symbolizing local pride and loyalty.
