Turtle & Tortoise Sanctuary 🐢 - I was in awe of this turtle and tortoise sanctuary. I spent over three hours there and am so glad I had the pleasure of visiting. I contacted the manager of the facility prior to visiting and was instructed that that the best form of transportation was taxi. I hired a private driver and it was about a 30 minute drive to the park just outside Ajaccio. The staff at the sanctuary were friendly and accommodating. There’s a cafe where you can purchase hot food and a lovely gift shop. I highly recommend visiting. 🐢

Interesting visit with several species of turtles. - Took my grandkids to this exhibit and they loved it. Quite fascinating learning about the different species. The only challenge is it’s quite a distance about 30 miles from Adjaccio proper. Hired a private car to take us there.

A hidden gem - This park is well worth a visit. So many species of turtles and tortoises, from the tiny cute ones to the giant Galapagos tortoises. The cats on staff are adorable too. 30 minutes by taxi, make sure to call for one ahead of time when you go back as they have to drive from Ajaccio.

Something different - In land, away from the coast lies this little tortoise sanctuary, home to 100s of different species of tortoises. Much of the sanctuary is in the open with very little shade, but there’s a lovely, shaded cafe located at the entrance/exit, which sells a variety of food and drinks. There’s also a small souvenir shop onsite.

Don't buy these tickets unless you check out the transportation situation - I would like to warn others not to buy these tickets. We tried for over 2 hours to get a taxi or Uber to take us to the location but were unable to get there. We could have taken a train and walked 20 minutes but there was no train coming back before our cruise ship all-aboard time. We really wanted to visit the Turtle Park but getting there is a huge problem.

Not really a turtle sanctuary... Ticket office staff was rude. - This place seems to be more of a tourist money making business than a genuine conservation sanctuary. As it is often the case, the owners are probably greedy people motivated by profit and not nature/animal protection. This visit didn't start well as the ticket office staff member displayed a rude and arrogant behaviour. She was asking everyone's nationality. When I gave mine, she doubted my answer and made me feel very embarrassed and upset. What she meant to ask was the country of residence, which I didn't give because she didn't ask! I gave my nationality as she asked! I then had to explain to her that nationality and country of residence aren't the same thing! What a stupid person! Anyway, this person needs to be retrained and to learn the difference between the two. Also, why are they asking those intrusive questions anyway? In the end, the turtles were alright I guess, but the place didn't feel friendly or genuine. Also, the gift shop is full of plastic made in China merchandise which they wrap in plastic bubble wrap etc. This is extremely hypocritical since turtles are dying from plastic pollution in the Oceans... Get some damn paper bags and recycled sugar paper to wrap the gifts at the very least! And maybe start selling environmentally conscious gifts that respect nature and animals.
