Gunung Agung = simply the best - Amazing experience, Gede the guide was brilliant. It's no easy trek to say the least, but worth every second. Once at the peak of Agung It's a sight like no other and all that second guessing of myself throughout the trek was gone in an instant. Tour company was sensational and was in contact from the get go. Highly recommended on all accounts.

Utmost Care & Professionalism - I was able to book a last minute (the day of) trek with Bali Sunrise Trekking to the true summit of Mount Agung, and experienced immediate and clear communication from the WhatsApp contact person/company operator, Ari. I had Agung as my driver and he picked me up on time, communicating in advance. Agung was very kind during our drive, answering questions I had about Balinese history and culture. I had Nengah as my guide and felt incredibly comfortable with him the entire time. He was caring, encouraging, knowledgeable, respectful and professional, which are all very important, especially as a solo female traveler. He made sure to check in on me frequently as to how I was feeling and he was mindful to match his pace to mine. He also made sure I was well hydrated and stuffed with tasty snacks he had brought along, the whole time. 10/10 would definitely recommend booking your trek with Bali Sunrise Trekking. I plan to book with them again for Mount Batur the next time I’m in Bali.

Mt Abang Hike, first Sunrise of 2020 - Fantastic experience hiking up Mount Abang for first light on New Years Day, tough trek but a memorable experience. Organizing the trip was very easy and straight forward messaging through WhatsApp and a PayPal down payment to book in our tour and sort out pickup details. Our driver Ngurah arrived early and waited for us to get ready for a 12:45am departure from Canggu and a little over 2hrs to get to Mt Abang, we chatted about all the mountains he has climbed and the Bali love for the New Year also had a nap. When we arrived we were greeted by the guide and a cup of coffee and given some water for the trip and a headlight. We seemed to be the only tour heading up to the summit that evening although there were a number of local groups camped out overnight. Set out for the summit just before 3am and arrived at the top about 2hrs later, a tough hike for as we do not do much trekking at home but definitely doable for anyone in reasonably good condition and with the drive to get up before sunrise. Mt Abang is not a volcano and covered in quite dense jungle an therefore the path can be quite slippery (especially on the way down) and there a lot of debris on the path, it is also almost essential to have a guide as the best path for getting to the top is not obvious and sometimes we wandered straight into the jungle and would definitely have gotten lost in the dark without the local knowledge. We made 3 short stops on the way up, 2 at temples along the way and one at a nice clearing. Great vantage point for photos of the Bali street lights from along the path and on the way down almost perfect views of Mt Batur and the surrounding area. At the summit we had a little food and coffee/tea that the guide brought up before sunrise, there were only 10-15 people total watching the sunrise behind Mt Agung, the area is covered in forest and trees do block some of the view but there is a good path down one of the ridges for some of the best views I saw on the mountain. Very slippery on the way down few falls but only my pride was hurt, we made it down in almost half the time up however we were going quite fast, hence the falls, a few stops for photos and water breaks but all in all a much easier descent. Once at the bottom we thanked the guide and Ngurah took us back to the villa for a well deserved rest. All in all a great experience that I would suggest anyone with the desire to see this fantastic site especially those who appreciate hiking. Thank you Bali Sunrise Trekking and Tour for a fantastic experience, well worth the effort and cost.

Wonderful hike Mt. Abang - After climbing Mt. Batur last year (and Mt. Agung still being closed), we decided to climb Mt. Abang (2.152m). Contact person Agung responded immediately via WhatsApp and provided us with all needed information. We decided to book a private tour. On the evening before he created a WhatsApp group with me and driver Ajunk Ngurah and confirmed the agreed pick up time (01.30am). The driver informed me already at 00.00 that he arrived. Driving went smoothly and we arrived one hour later at the registration point, where we met our guide, who gave us coffee/tea and breakfast box (jelly sandwich, honeydew melon, boiled egg, even salt for the egg!). He explained briefly our hike and the resting points. We drove to the nearby starting point and started our hike just after 3am. Within half an hour we reached the first temple, took few minutes rest and continued. The second part was most tough and sometimes had to climb on all 4s. The guide was very professional and indicated places where we had to be careful. This part was relatively short and soon we reached the second temple. After a prayer of the guide we continued for the last part and arrived at the summit within 1h45min. We were the first ones on the top and the guide mentioned that we were quite fast (average is 2-2.5h). The guide offered us coffee or tea (he carried porcelain cups with saucers all the way up!) and we ate our breakfast while waiting for sunrise. We saw only 2 other tourists, for the rest local people. After the sunrise (around 5.45-6.00am) we started our descent. Some parts were quite slippery, but the guide did an amazing job indicating where we could best step and offering a hand. Our way down took just a few minutes less then up. The driver was already waiting for us and upon our wish he brought us to the Tagalalang rice fields and then back to hotel. We liked this hike a lot because it was way less touristy than Batur! Make sure you have enough water with you for the hike, because there is nothing available on the mountain. Would highly recommend to book a tour with Sunrise Bali Trekking!

Bali Sunrise Trekking and Tour - Mt Abang Private Hike - This trip, from start to finish was absolutely amazing! Once we booked, the Bali Sunrise Trekking team reached out via WhatsApp to arrange our pickup from the villa we were staying at. Granted, to do a sunrise trek, this means you will be picked up VERY early in the morning but I promise, the reward is so incredibly worth it! Our driver, Oky, showed up right on time at 1:30 am (had to be this early because we were staying well over an hour away from Mt Abang). He was great, and his cheerfulness helped keep us enthused and excited about being up that early on our way to the mountain! Once we had arrived, the trekking team was very nice and gave us coffee and some fruit/light sandwiches for breakfast before heading out to the trailhead. Our guide provided us with headlamp flashlights to hike in the dark and then off we went. Please note that Mt Abang would not be considered a nice, leisurely hike and at some points we were definitely hiking on “all 4’s” to assist with the climb (bring good hiking shoes/boots). That said, it is certainly doable and takes between 2-3 hours or so to finally reach the summit. Our guide was fantastic and would give tips and point out sections to be careful of. He was just super polite and friendly and taught us about some of the plants and landscape we were seeing. Just be aware the higher you climb, the colder and windier it gets so make sure to have long pants, a rain jacket and maybe an extra, light layer in case you get really cold on top of the summit. The views as the sun approached the horizon and then slowly peeked above was just stunning. Words won’t fairly describe it and really, photos don’t either so it is just something you have to see with your own eyes. My wife and I recommend you do it with Bali Sunrise Trekking and Tours because you will certainly get incredible service, a friendly and welcoming team to guide you through a ride to and from wherever you are staying. I will end this review with this; we did a ton of searching for treks and there are a variety of options out there so we had a hard time picking where we wanted to go and through which company. We would do it all over again with the one that we chose, Bali Sunrise Trekking and Tours and anyone looking for an incredible adventure should do the same. You won’t regret it!

Hiking on Mt Abang - Amazing sunrise view - We chose the Mt Abang trekking to see the sunrise. Our driver, Oky, picked us up at our hotel in Ubud at 1:30am and drove us to the base camp. We met our guide and had breakfast, tea and coffee they have prepared. The ascension was about two hours, including two breaks. We arrived at the top around 4:30am so we had a long time to wait until sunrise but it was a nice moment, warming up near the fire our guide has made. Then the sun started to rise near the Mt Agung and on the mountains in Lombok and the view was just breathtaking. We were only 4 people !! We also had a great view on Mt Batur with the morning light. The way down was fine and Oky took us back to our place in Ubud. He offered to stop in a coffee plantation (included in the trip) but we declined it because we were really tired. To sum up, hiking on Mt Abang was an amazing experience with really kind people and we would 100% recommend it !
