Highly Recommend! - We did the horseback riding tour, which was lovely. The Aquiares waterfall was a highlight (bring your swim suit if you want to take a dip!). Our guides were super friendly and shared so much information. The seating at the restaurant afterwards was breathtaking. I wish we could have stayed for lunch!

Such a great experience - A big highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. The house is beautiful, the grounds are like the garden of Eden. The staff was so unbelievably pleasant and kind that it felt like you were staying with family. We did the 4-hour horseback tour and our guides, Andrew and Christian, were extremely knowledgeable and just an overall great hang. The views were stunning— it felt like a tour of paradise, including the scenic waterfall we detoured. Only regret was not staying long enough and as soon as we got in the car to leave we felt sad to depart. Can’t praise Aquiares enough—will definitely return here for an even longer stay.

You will be well looked after! - Traditional snacks and coffee at the Hacienda to start with. We were staying there already so it wasn’t out of the ordinary as we were very well fed every day! Calm and seemingly unflappable horses; beautiful views; lots of lovely photos to take home. As novice riders we felt safe and even somewhat confident! Caesar our tour guide was full of information - but it’s a lot to take in while concentrating on riding 😉 - and Christian, the stable manager, led the way making sure the track was clear. Andrew was learning the ropes of being a tour guide so we were very spoilt for attention. This is more a tour of the whole coffee plantation with information about the growing and harvesting of the bean rather than learning about the bean to cup coffee making process.

A very special day off of the typical tourist beat - Cesar and Christen were our horseback ride guides. They took us on a magical tour of the coffee farm along the way sharing the history of coffee and this very special place. We made two extraordinary stops along the way where we appreciated the unique mountain setting and fantastic views. The last time we were on horseback was many years ago. No issues with our guides they were very kind and patient we never felt out of control with these well trained horses. And if that was not enough, we enjoyed a wonderful multi-course luncheon in the historical inn that decades ago provided overnight accommodations for traveling coffee buyers. The lunch was a real treat on an outside veranda overlooking a beautiful garden. Everyone of the staff we encountered made us feel welcome and special. And the coffee at the end of our meal was delicious!!

Gotta try this. - This was a great tour through the coffee trees learning the process and all about the landscape. Being on horseback makes it even better. Our guide knew a ton and was eager to share everything he knew.

A Fantastic experience - First things first.. If you are traveling in from the city, use the app Waze to get to the Coffee farm. We did not and traveled through the mountains in the most unconventional way. The experience was STELLAR, we arrived late due to issues listed above and the staff waited on us politely. The staff introduced us to the horses and told us all the safety precautions when riding horses. We began the tour and the guides were extremely friendly, he even offered to take pictures for us and gave us a detailed history of the farm including all that they do in the local town. After the tour we were served the BEST coffee we had ever tasted accompanied by a serving of fruit grown locally on the farm. As we sat there conversing, one of the guides asked us if we wold like lunch before heading back to the city. We accepted and we were served such an amazing traditional Costa Rican lunch. Rice, beans, chicken and plantains. This was the best experience we have had in Costa Rica and will highly recommend if you are visiting the country, or even if you live locally.

Great experience - What a lovely day~! The coffee farm is amazing..the horses were sweet...the waterfall was fantastic and cooling to be near...and the guides were super kind and well informed, about the history of the farm, how coffee is grown, and some of the history of the Indigenous people from the Aquiares area. Am still enjoying the coffee I bought at the store. Very worthwhile.
