  • Tubac Center of the Arts - We will discuss the latest chapter of the history of Tucson in front of the Tubac Center of the Arts. Tubac as an Art Colony in the 20th century and into the 21st.
  • Tubac Golf Resort - We will discuss the historical and economic importance of what is now the Tubac Golf Resort, site of the first Spanish Land Grant in what is now the state of Arizona issued in the 18th century.
  • Anza Trail - We will descend down into the flood plain to come up close and personal with the most endangered forest in North America, the Cottonwood Willow Gallery Forest which lines the Santa Cruz river along the Juan Bautista de Anza National Historic Trail. This is also prime bird-watching country with the appearance of birds from Mexico that you can see nowhere else in the United States.
  • Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Museum - Travel back in time to the Spanish colonial frontier in the Sonoran Desert at Arizona’s first state park commemorating the location of the first European settlement in what is now the state. We will explore the archaeological remains, reflect on the historical interpretation and see amazing artifacts linked to the origins of our state.

This is a guided stroll through Tubac, situated in Arizona’s Santa Cruz County, led by a local. Tubac originated as a Tohono O’Odham village and is known for being the oldest European settlement in present-day Arizona, established in 1752. The tour is organized into four segments, covering an overview and understanding of Tubac’s topography, antiquity, natural reserves, as well as modern life.
