Highlights
  • Tromso - Adventure with us on this magical Northern Lights hunt, departing at 9pm this evening cruise from Tromsø in the darkness of Polar Night.

This guided cruise aboard the large, comfortable sightseeing catamaran MS Rygerdronningen departs from Tromsø, some 350 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle.

During the winter, the sun sets in Tromsø around the 27 November and normally doesn’t rise until 15 January, which creates an amazing dark condition for seeing this once in a lifetime scene.

You can look out for the Aurora through the panoramic windows of our warm, cozy cabin and then head out into the crisp Arctic air for a look from our spacious decks for an even clearer view.

The Auroras are unforgettable light shows caused by electrically charged particles from the sun colliding with gases in the Earth’s atmosphere. They are best seen near the Earth’s North and South Poles. They can be many colors, although green is the most common.

Great service without lights! - Being out on the boat was fun. The staff couldn't be more accommodating and highly knowledgeable. The weather did not provide a glimpse of the lights but we continue to have hopes for our next adventure.

Cruising through the Fjiords - The cruise was very nice. Unfortunately we were not able to see the Northern Lights. However the company offers the chance to book the cruise again until you see the Lights.

Northern Lights Catamaran - No lights but no complaints about the experience. Ample space on board for outdoor and indoor seating.

Wheeling around - A very enjoyable evening. My husband has limited mobility and uses a powered wheelchair and fortunately is able also walk short distances. We arrived with him in his wheelchair as the event was noted to be wheelchair accessible. There are two level on the boat, only accessible via stairs and the gangway to board had a step up. With the kind assistance of staff, particularly the captain providing direction and assistance, we were able get on board and have wonderful night. Well informed and helpful staff.

an enjoyable, easy cruise. - it was a lovely way to spend an evening and even though we didnt see the lights it was still enjoyable. The lady on the microphone needs to get some brevity training. Her information was fine, but so highly repeated and late at night I think most would have enjoyed more silence, rather than repeated information. All staff were lovely to interact with.

Nope, don’t waste your money. - Very poor weather and the guides were staying falsely optimistic in my opinion. It was snowing so hard, you could barely open your eyes and there was not a star in the sky. They only do the tours on Fridays and Sundays so their “guarantee” is worthless if they’re booked up, unless you’re staying for weeks. Limited to the number of locations they can swim out to so not worth the money in my opinion.

No light cruise - We booked the cruise to 'see the lights'. Our previous two trips (with other tour operators) had been cancelled due to the 0% chance of seeing the lights due to the poor weather conditions. We checked in with the Catamaran company to see if the cruise would be cancelled.. they said no. Assuming the company obviously know more than we do, we went along. However, I feel the whole evening was just stringing us along to see the lights... that we were never going to see. The cruise literally did a lap of Tromso and whilst the crew were very good (lots of explaining about the lights, drink refreshments served with a smile and lovely attitude) I feel we should have been offered the opportunity for a refund knowing the weather was so poor. We were offered a free return trip... which due to us leaving the following day was not possible.

Disappointing - A bet where your chances of success are always lower. Worse are the justifications and the lie that the day before was a success.

Terrible experience and customer service - I booked a tour with them through Viator but my flight was delayed due to bad weather and I couldn't arrive on time to catch the contracted cruise. Since the bad weather is undeniable, the two excursions I had taken for the next day were canceled and I could prove the 2h30 delay of my flight, I asked the company to change my appointment for the next day but they said no, that he had to pay it again (338 euros). I will not contract anything with them again and I recommend everyone not to do so, the customer service is terrible.
