Highlights

After pickup in Tromsø, your tour starts with the 25-minute drive to the reindeer camp.

When you arrive enjoy the chance to feed around 200 wild reindeer and then have a long reindeer-pulled sled ride, and then try lasso throwing, if you wish (not on the real reindeer).

Next, warm up with coffee inside a lavuu (a Sami tent), and listen to stories of Sami culture as you enjoy a hot lunch of bidos (soup) with more coffee and cookies. Listen to the sounds of a joik (traditional Sami folk song), and then return to Tromsø to end your tour in the afternoon.

Tromso Arctic Reindeer: Highly recommended this experience - Well put together experience by Tromso Arctic Reindeer. Gentle Reindeer Sledding, over only a short distance but made it suitable for all age groups. Loved meeting & feeding the Reindeer...there were some real characters! The Sami experience was excellent & made our day. The entertaining & informative talk by our 19yr old Sami guide who engaged us all informing us of past & present practices. So important to learn from history & about different cultural beliefs, dress & lifestyle. Great setting all sitting round on Reindeer hide covered benches with a roaring central fire in a big tent. Traditional Reindeer stew served was so delicious they generously allowed us a second helping! Great selection of gifts to buy onsite, with everyone so welcoming & helpful. In beautiful plateau setting surrounded by mountains. Good transport arrangements from Tromso.

Highly Recommended! - It’s an extraordinary experience to be so close to reindeer. The Sami people conducting the activities were easy to love and connect with. They were exceptionally informative and competent, we learned much and gained a respect for these people who so successfully thrived in such a harsh climate. It was a great experience.
