- Tromso - To fully appreciate the Northern Lights, it’s essential to escape the light pollution of Tromsø and venture into the Arctic wilderness. The direction taken will depend on the evening’s weather conditions: clouds can obscure the Aurora, so the priority will be to find clear skies. If necessary, crossing the border into Finland might be an option!
- Troms - Once the perfect spot is found, an intimate location away from other tours and artificial lights will be chosen. Waiting is part of the experience: the Aurora might appear within minutes or after a couple of hours. To make the wait enjoyable, a campfire will be lit, and participants can enjoy soup, cookies, and hot chocolate while learning all the secrets of this natural wonder. Winter temperatures can range from +5°C to -30°C, so thermal suits will be provided for everyone.
For those with a camera, guidance will be offered on how to set it up to best capture the Aurora. Additionally, professional photos will be taken to ensure a lasting memory of this magical night.
- Troms - It’s important to remember that nature is unpredictable: occasionally, the sky may remain overcast, or solar activity might be weak. However, even on uncertain nights, a 20-minute break in the clouds can offer a breathtaking display. With local weather knowledge and advanced tools, the chances of being in the right place at the right time will be maximized.
Nights without the Aurora are rare, but they do happen. Therefore, it’s crucial to remember that the Aurora can never be guaranteed 100%.
The tour’s duration will depend on the time needed to find ideal conditions. Sometimes, a 30-minute drive from Tromsø is sufficient, while other times, a more extensive Aurora hunt is required to find a starry sky. Regardless of the night, an unforgettable adventure is assured!
