Kaymaklı Underground City is a remarkable ancient site in Turkey’s Central Anatolian region. Constructed in the early 8th century, it stands as one of the largest and best-preserved underground cities in the area. The city features a complex network of tunnels and chambers, including churches, stables, and storage rooms, providing refuge from adversaries and harsh weather. It comprises 8 levels, with the deepest reaching 50 meters.
- Ozkonak Underground City - Özkonak Underground City ranks among the largest and most impressive ancient underground cities globally. Situated in Cappadocia, Turkey, it extends approximately 60 meters deep and contains over 100 tunnels, galleries, and chambers. It served as a protective haven for up to 3,000 people from the 8th century BC to the 7th century AD.

The Hittites first used clay from the Kızılırmak (Red) River for pottery before 1700 BC, and the art continues today.
