Later, we head towards the Torres del Paine National Park, and after 2 hours of travel, we will arrive at the starting point of our walk.
After a previous talk by our guide, we will start walking along the path towards an old bridge that crosses the Asencio River. After 1 hour of walking, we will arrive at Camping El Chileno, in the shade of a spectacular lenga forest, crossing several slopes that fall from Mount Almirante Nieto.
After a brief stop, we will continue our way to the next viewpoint, at an altitude of 700 m. From here, the trail increases its slope, half an hour later, we will reach Base Las Torres at the eastern end of the lagoon, from where we will have a spectacular view of the three towers and the Peineta and Nido de Cóndores hills. With this view, we will have time to rest and have our box lunch. Later, we will return along the same path until we reach the starting point, from where we will take the vehicle that will take us back to Puerto Natales.

The Base las Torres hike starts by meandering through the Asencio Valley for approximately 90 minutes. This will conclude with a spectacular view of Lake Nordenjköld. Following this, we will take a stroll beneath the ancient glaciers of Monte Almirante Nieto, a snow-capped mountain that peaks at an elevation of 2670 m.
Our guide will ensure regular breaks. The journey will gently descend, yet it can vary as much as 200 feet due to the trail’s winding nature around the mountain and the swift river beneath. After several hours of hiking, we will take a much-needed break at the Chilean refuge.
