Highlights

Set sail on the Tall Ship Kajama from the heart of downtown Toronto. This is a 2-hour experience that includes 30 minutess at the start of the tour boarding the vessel. After setting sail, you can help your experienced crew raise the raise sails on the 3-masted 1930s schooner. If you don’t wish to partake, no worries; just sit back and relax with an ice-cold beverage from the fully licensed bar. Sail either through the east or the west gap of Toronto’s beautiful harbor. Take some pictures of the Toronto Islands and the downtown skyline, and take time to explore the historic sailing vessel. After the sails are up, your crew will sing a couple of sea shanties while coiling the ropes. Midway through the cruise, they’ll fire off the ship’s cannon, which is always a crowd pleaser! Once out of the gap you will be fully under sail. You can ask the crew questions about the vessel’s history, the surrounding areas or just sit back and enjoy the background music that is played while you take in the views. You can also order some typical pub food from the onboard restaurant. After 1.5 hours on the boat, return to the dock, where you are able to purchase a souvenir photo of your excursion.

Great view of Toronto - I gave this as a gift to my 2 sisters and they both loved it. Went in June, weather looked decent. They liked the music on board and the entertainment. Nice way to see the city from a different view.

Pleasant Water Cruise with Friends - The passengers lucked out with a sunny day. Our group of seniors enjoyed a nice cruise on quiet water, engaged in pleasant conversations with each other. A member’s astute observation: An engine actually propelled the ship all throughout. Although a passenger was recruited to hoist a big sail, that was all for show. No wind visibly pushed the sails. It would have taken a very windy day for that to happen. However, a sailing ship does catch one’s interest for a cruise. And our group afterwards had a hearty meal together.

Meh experience - Good view of the city of Toronto. The staff sang one chant and we could not even hear it...food was fine. There was one cannon go off. The description sounded more excited than what they did! I wouldn't do it again.

Beautiful views, but not actually a “set sail” experience and crew was too busy hanging out to interact with customers. - I was very excited for my first sailing experience and my first experience on vacation in Canada. I loved the boat and the views of the city. But I was disappointed that the motor was really what powered the boat the entire time, so never really got to experience SAILING - which is what it is billed as. It was also really annoying to not hear a word said by the young man on the microphone because none of the speakers were working and none of the crew bothered to explain or even acted troubled by that fact. The crew seemed nice, but interacted only at the beginning of the trip while still waiting to get sails up, and only to ask us what we wanted to eat. I think it is a great idea to use (what appears to be) college kids on the crew, but it would have been nice if, instead of clustering together in groups at either end of the ship looking bored and having their own personal conversations, they had made even a small effort to engage with passengers and possibly even ask if we had any questions or wanted them to point out some of the buildings downtown or things along the shore, etc. it just felt very much like we were sailing on an automated boat with no crew at all and no locals to interact with. I was a bit surprised to be honest. The views were wonderful and the ship is laid out well for passengers, but with one shanty sang before we left harbor, the crew was done with us. When I made the effort to speak to the manager directly, telling her I go out of my way to compliment great service but also like to provide feedback directly if it’s not so great (with no expectations on my part), all she said was: Thanks for sharing. No apology. No thanks for the great suggestions. Nothing.
