We paddle out to horseshoe crab island and watch the sun set on another day in paradise. Explore the island with your group and meet new friends.

After the sun sets, the magic of bioluminescence begins. It’s hard to describe the beautiful colors of bioluminescence. The fish glow as they swim below your paddleboard or kayak. It’s an incredibly magical experience.

Additional Information

Twilight Tranquility & Bioluminescence Journey
Our congenial professionals lead a serene sunset standup paddleboard or kayak venture on the Indian River Lagoon during twilight hours. An exploration of Horseshoe Crab Island is part of the fun too!

We will be on the lookout for horseshoe crabs, dolphins, manatees, and other fascinating underwater residents while the sun lowers below the horizon.

As darkness envelops us, we will continue our voyage under the starlit sky, the waters below illuminated by the glow of bioluminescent dinoflagellates.

Stars & Luminescence Night Viewing
As the night engulfs us at this start time, the stars twinkle brightly against the dark canopy, complemented by the glittering bioluminescence beneath us. We advise to have a stargazing application handy for discovering the heavenly constellations.

For BOTH experiences:
We strongly advocate using one of our robust paddleboards to experience this breathtaking adventure. It offers a unique perspective to observe the underwater world beneath you. Alternatively, for a more intimate experience with the lagoon, you can choose to sit and soak in the surroundings from our transparent kayaks. We also offer clear paddleboards!

Perfect for a night out. - It was very fun and informational. Started with basic instructions, so that anyone can do it. Kayak at your own speed and leisure.

Moonlit summer kayak trip - Perfect weather for a kayak trip. Our tour operator Bob was very friendly and knowledgeable and made the trip that much more enjoyable. The bioluminescence is super cool and I can’t believe I’ve lived in Florida for this long and have never experienced it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that is visiting the area or is a “local” like me.

My Daughter and I had a BLAST! - I cannot say enough good things about the Epic team and our adventure. My 6yo daughter and myself rented a tandem clear kayak for the 8-10p tour and we had a blast. I am not the most experienced kayaker and I didn't have any issue getting out to the island. My daughter swam around and splashed in the glowing waters and had the most magical time seeing the glowy algea. On our way back, the weather had turned and the winds picked up significantly making for a much more difficult trek back. The guides were with us the entire way, even ushering us safely back to shore when our kayak took on too much water and we couldn't use it anymore. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone - especially with the Epic team!

amazing experience - Amazing experience. We took the night tour, from 10 PM to 12 PM (actually it was 30 minutes longer) in a clear kajak. The dark water gets full of "flashing"when something is moving into it (paddles or fishes). You paddle to a little island. You can swim there. And back. The guides were very helpful, kind and fun. Love to do it again next year

Nice staff - The staff were kind & attentive, and getting out on the island was unique, but the kayaks were a bit of a challenge (shaped differently, no foot rest, no traction inside boat so seat slides around).

Magical with great guides but if you want an intimate experience this isn’t the tour. - First I want to say this was an incredible experience… very unique and I enjoyed every minute of it. The guides were doing their best in an unfortunate situation and were clearly knowledgeable about the area which made for an unforgettable trip. That said, we took the 10 pm tour and had to wait for the 8 pm tour to get back and unload. It was a very large group and it made us late. Then the high winds kicked up so we waited a bit more. Finally we started loading the 40ish people in our trip which took at 15-20 minutes. My husband and I were first so we sat in the kayak next to the dock while they loaded the rest of the group. If it were daytime we could have hung out in the water but at night they keep you close understandably. We didn’t go to the island due to the winds so no pictures. I would rate the guides a 5, the 10 pm time slot a 3 and the tour company for having 40 people and 4 guides to load and unload everyone a 2. I would gladly have paid more to have a smaller group if I would have known. Despite the disappointments… once we got out there it was magical and I would definitely come again. In a smaller group. 🤪
