- Kumbakonam - Guests will be collected from their hotel early in the morning for a two and a half hour journey to the Temple of the Sun, located near Kumbakonam. This temple is one of the few ancient temples dedicated to the Sun God and is the only temple in Tamil Nadu with shrines for all nine celestial bodies of the Hindu zodiac. Constructed in the 11th century A.D. by the Chola King Kulothunga I, it is believed in Hinduism that the Sun God grants health, success, and prosperity.
- Chandra Sthalam Thingalur (Kailasanthar) Temple - The next destination is the Temple of the Moon in Thingalur, an hour’s drive from the Temple of the Sun. The Moon God is considered a reliever of stress and sorrow. The temple features a large statue of the Nandi bull at its entrance and a 16-sided Lingam, a structure associated with the Hindu God Shiva.
- Kanjanur Temple - Following this, visit the Temple of Venus in Kanjanur, located 21 miles from the Temple of the Moon. Venus is believed to address issues related to love, marriage, beauty, and comfort.
- Arulmigu Naganathaswamy Temple Thirunageswaram - The final stop of the day is the Temple of Rahu in Thirunageswaram, a half-hour drive away. Rahu is linked with negative influences on an individual’s horoscope and is worshipped here to alleviate its adverse effects.
All four temples were constructed during the Chola dynasty between the 7th and 11th centuries A.D., showcasing the Dravidian architectural style, characterized by a 5-tiered central tower with intricate exteriors.
At the conclusion of the tour, enjoy lunch (at your own expense) at a local restaurant. After lunch, guests will be driven back to Trichy and returned to their hotel.
