Blloku - Blloku is a prestigious area in Tirana, Albania, renowned as a hub for entertainment with its array of boutiques, shops, restaurants, trendy bars, pubs, and cafes. This area is part of the Tirana e Re neighborhood in the southwestern part of the city. During the bustling summer months, its fashionable bars extend along the Albanian Riviera.

After the fall of Communism in Albania, Blloku became highly appealing, as it was previously a restricted residential zone for members of the Albanian politburo, inaccessible to ordinary citizens. It was often left unmarked on maps. In Blloku, you can still visit the residence of Albania’s communist leader, Enver Hoxha.

Enver Hoxha Pyramid - Designed by Enver Hoxha’s daughter and son-in-law and completed in 1988, this strikingly unattractive building was once the Enver Hoxha Museum and later served as a convention center and nightclub. Today, it is covered in graffiti and surrounded by the encampments of Tirana’s homeless. Its once-white marble walls are now deteriorating, and a decision on whether to demolish or restore it has yet to be made.

Berat Castle - Upon arriving in Berat, visit the National Ethnographic Museum of Berat, located in a remarkable, typical 18th-century two-story Berat residence. This museum offers an engaging insight into the lifestyle traditions of this captivating town. The museum’s exhibits are well-organized across the two stories of the former residence. The delightful journey through the exhibits provides a comprehensive view of the traditions and daily lives of Berat’s notable families.

Berat - Established in 1797, this museum was originally a cathedral and is located at the highest point of Berat Castle, though it may be somewhat challenging to locate. While the Ottomans were Muslim, they permitted Christians to continue practicing their faith and construct churches, albeit discreetly.
